My name is Harley Rushton,

I’m 23 and currently studying for a BSc (Hons) degree Motorsport management and technology at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN). I am an avid road racing fan so I'm conducting studies into road racing throughout my studies.

My current university project is titled ‘The Feasibility of Motorcycle Road Racing on Closed Public Roads in Yorkshire’. This feasibility study is looking at whether a road race could happen in Yorkshire after the 2017 alterations in the law.

If you have the time, could you possibly fill in my quick poll looking at the interest such an event might have.

Follow the Link: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/7JDFSZJ

What are peoples thoughts on holding a race in Yorkshire on public roads. What may be the problems? What would be the benefits be?
I have a couple proposed routes planned out in my local area of North Yorkshire. I am looking to see how many people would get involved with an event.

Any comments on this subject would be appreciated for reference in my assignment.

Regards, Harley.

Fvck your 3 question survey monkey up the wrong one. Razz

Get out to a BSB round...a few bike shows...meets.
In other words see the look in their eyes when you're talking to them..and don't take a wanky clipboard.
Do that and I guarantee you'll get far more accurate information.

Harley Rushton....If that is your real name. Shifty

Gone to events, asked my questions and got the T-shirts for all that.

Sorry to say but in education they like some stats and graphs so was hoping for some valid responses.

Are you doing this on behalf of the Royal Automobile Club Motor Sports Association Limited, or the Auto-Cycle Union Limited?

I ask because if neither of those bodies is backing your survey, then it's a waste of time. It's not what you harvest, it's who you're harvesting for.

I hope that this has been useful to you in explaining how the world works outside of academia.

Er it already happens, try googling Olivers Mount, Scarborough, then try planning it somewhere else!

Agree. I was just about to point out that there is already road racing in Yorkshire.

Done, although you need to work out the difference between 'to' and 'too.' I hope they still like that in modern education.

I reckon a bit of research into the F3000 racing in Birmingham City Centre back in the late '80s might be useful. By research I mean dig deep and find out what the problems were, how they were resolved, and why it came to an end. Sure, the laws are changing but many of the same problems must exist now as then.

'Motorsport Management' sounds like a strange course. I know everyone has to be a manager these days (probably why there is a productivity issue) but are motorsport teams likely to employ inexperienced generalists?

Nexus Icon would probably be best qualified to answer this but I don't think they like uber specific motorsport degrees in motorsport. I once had aspirations to do a similar course (except it was a BEng) Embarassed I ended up doing an equally pointless BSc and now do manual labour Thumbs Up

It isnae 'really' a closed public road.

It is a road in a park that the public has access to. Smile

The Yorkshire PoPo would be first to put the boot in.

Then the Horse Petting Society.

And the Lycra Brigade would be up in arms (two-abreast).

Anyway Scotland needs this Racing of Roads much moar than anywhere.

No, just plan the race for a day when Leeds United are playing at home and you can get away with anything because every plod inside of 25 miles is at the match.
