Is that the Applecross road?
Dry tarmac all the way, you will probably have decent weather all week while we are frozen and drifted up

Looks epic. I need a go of one of those beasts some day.

It's been lovely all week here, but venture off west towards the hills and epic biking roads and it's still -4c with snow and ice everywhere. Was hoping to get out tomorrow but I think at I'll get the DRZ started as I haven't used it since September.

This was my first proper run only bought it in November, theres a fair bit of shit on the road and we need a heavy down pour to clean it off. Everything was going well not pushing too hard and then my back tyre hit gravel and nearly high sided which was a proper squeaky bum moment.

Was a about 2 degrees for most of it but coming over the hills there was patches of snow at the side really looking forward to getting out more on the bike.

Its a different beast to the 990SM, the 990 i would thrash and enjoy having the throttle pinned in most gears, the 1290 feels like I'm holding back a lot which am not really used to Sad, hopefully that will change as you end up well into the high 3 figures very quickly.

I’ve got nothing against the miv, looks good. I’m definitely an Akra fanboy, you pay for it but the quality is amazing. Not a fan of stubbies or high level exhausts, particularly as they are designed for aesthetics more than performance gains.

I could gain more power to weight if i lost some excess body weight
. Wink I only see cans as a better sounding looking upgrade tbh, i live up north too far away to do regular trackdays.

It’s amazing how much weight it saves, the box with all the standard stuff is so much heavier - it’s even noticeably easier to wheel into the shed.

The full system gives a better pick up, more torque and power throughout the rev range so it’s suitable for road use - 6th gear was a waste of time but with the extra grunt it’s now usable. It’s not like the bike was lacking in power but it’s definitely a worthwhile upgrade at some point.

You can get the AR can with a link pipe and Akra map, but I’ve heard some people say you need custom tune and Rottweiler intake kit or it’s down on bottom end power. Stubbies can also cause running issues due to the lack of back pressure.
