"KHAN WANTS PRIVATE MOTORCYCLES OUT OF LONDON"

Quote:
London Assembly Member Boff then repeatedly pushed the Deputy Mayor for Transport by stating, “You are discouraging motorcycling.”

The Mayor of London piped up, “Motorcycling is not walking. It’s not cycling. It’s not public transport.”

Well, that's just friggin peachy.

I read it more as they're not fussed about or even acknowledging bikers in their transport strategy. So nothing has changed then.

I'm sure there was a guy who registered his car as a Private Hire taxi so he could use the bus lane? I reckon you could do the same with a bike for the ULEZ...

Do Virgin still do their bike taxi's?

Stephen Fry famously drove a black cab for years to avoid traffic jams by using bus lanes. I think he was foiled when
the CC came in because ANPR.

Noel Edmonds used to do this, obviously for purely altruistic reasons.

More his plan to make money by charging more and more for any vehicle in London. I doubt he can afford to lose that revenue stream so he's maximising it under the banner of GREEN while making the PC noises about no no vehicles at all.

Black cabs shouldn't be allowed in bus lanes, the reasoning is as spurious as it gets (they need to drop passengers at the kerb) Rolling Eyes The real reason is the same as how Uber lost their license.

We could easily get them on board if we simply do away with the maximum occupancy of motorcycles, just like back home
Maybe that's the Caliphs plan all along?

As far as I'm concerned, London can feel free to dissappear up its own rectum.

If it's so bad, people should move away. That will solve both their personal problem and the congestion problem. May even go some way to slowing the housing balloon.

If everyone hates the mayor and his policies so much, why do they keep voting for him? No other place in the UK has such a broad mandate for self government. I can only conclude that London problems are self-inflicted, maybe is some weird massochistic tendancy that makes people want to live there.

Because the alternative is "evil Tory scum" innit Rolling Eyes

Morons in Newham voted for him because they're morons. The rest of us sensible folk just held our noses and voted Goldsmith.

I would hypothesise that voting for that Khant and not having access to your own private transport are strongly correlated Laughing

That or the money. I think I would struggle to a find a job doing what I do away from London and it would be easily 1/3 less money. I could move away however my family and friend live nearby. It's a long way away but my vague retirement plans are to buy a place in the lower highlands. I saw a place that was beautiful, 6 bedrooms finished immaculately it had a huge 2 story garage, was next to a lake and there were mountain views. I could have bought it and had 100k left over.

I would love to do it, however we would be too far away from all our friends and family, plus I doubt I could get a job that would even pay half my London salary. Once the mortgage is paid off maybe... Depends on the broadband speed Laughing

I do so agree. I know there are people who love big cities and the multicultural environment. Good, because the more people in London, the less in the rest of our little green island. Thumbs Up

I do wonder about the earning more money thing. Does it actually make up for the massively higher cost of living?
