Hi guys, i got my new exhaust can but it doesnt fit perfectly into my exhaust system it is just slightly too small from 1 side i would said 1mm even less just blocks entering it.
Can i just sand the exhaust end pipe make it bit thinner just tinny bit so it fits or use dremel or something to make th3 exhaust pipe perfect round.

And question if i make it too much and it will be loose what are possibilities of fitting it on exhaust some high heat tape so the clamp squeeze it or what sre your suggestion guys ?

Thanks

Ideally you'd want a pipe stretcher. Most exhaust fitting places will have one. If you know the exact OD you want it, I doubt they'd charge a lot to add 1mm to a pipe.

If you say where you are in the country, someone on here might be able to help, I know at least a couple of members have/have access to a pipe stretcher.

Another option is getting a custom made slip joint to go between your exhaust and the end can.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Any-Size-Tapered-Tube-Exhaust-Connector-Custom-Reducer-Stainless-Steel-T304-/131332985545?hash=item1e940e52c9

Do future you a favour and use mikalor exhaust clamps.

Use clear plumbers silicone in exhaust joints. Don't waste your time/money/effort on anything else. especially on special "exhaust paste" products. They are more expensive, messier and less effective.

Hi, thanks for replying, i don't think its that needed and its expensive, its just not even 1 mm, at first it didnt fit completly at all but i used other pipe to widen it a bit and its better now but just a bit doesnt fit still.
I was thinking of just sanding the pipe on exhaust pipe make it bit thinner but my worry is what if i sand too much and the exhaust can will come loose and will be hard to tighten it, is it possible to use some tape high heat tape or something around the pipe and then put the exhaust on so i could tighten it ?
My plan is to sand the pipe a bit tomorrow as well as the bit that blocks entry of the can and try to fit it
Thanks

Apologies if this is obvious to you but I've seen many others make the mistake - you have definitely removed all traces of any old gaskets?

What should be noted here is that OP has a fucking.hilarious flexi pipe and the can is probably the right size, but his pipe is fucking spastic.

Last can was welded to some flexi. Perhaps a photo will help others assist you with this god awful mess

Such a hater lol
What did this pipe ever do to you it looks good.
1st point is that i bought new can and i want to fit it under the bike so there will be no flexi pipe not because its ugly because its not but because i just want to fit the new can under the bike straight to exhaust system pipe if i cant i can always fit it as on the picture because it works this way too and looks sexyy but i just prefer it to be under bike if possible
And it wasnt welded on to exhaust its all clamp

Eh? Laughing

Get rid of the flexi link pipe thingy and replace it with something more appropriate. Wink

Don't start sanding the new end can.

See that place I linked to on ebay?

Get in touch with them (or someone similar), tell them the diasmeter of the front bit, the diameter of the back bit and how far apart you want them to finish up and the offset between the two. They shold be able to sort you out with a bent link pipe to suit.

I thought this was going to be on some 52nd hand piece of junk that looks like it's been pulled out of a skip. That Yamaha looks quite smart, seems a shame to spoil it with such a rough looking bodged exhaust. Surely it's possible to buy a used exhaust that looks as nice as the rest of the bike for very little money?

If you had asked here... those have minimal, is any, baffling. You're effectively running a resonator, not a "muffler".

BBQ/Stove black spraypaint. My flex pipe and downpipe are done in it.

However, mine is a rat, yours is most certainly not. Go get it sorted properly.
