SV650S K8. Shortly after I bought it there was a dull clunk from the front end whenever I hit a sharp bump or pothole. I ignored it for a year until now it's doing it more frequently.

Had the MOT the other day so I got them to fit new steering head bearings, which they didn't do because they said the current ones were fine and the steering head was tightened adequately. So, I've ruled that out. it also got an advisory for worn disc bobbins, and worn discs so I've ordered a new set (which they suggested MIGHT cure the clunk).

On the SV forums it's suggested that it's the stock fork springs bottoming out as they can't cope with sudden loads like potholes. Anyone else had this on an SV? I want to remedy it as it's annoying and doesn't look good if I come to sell it.

Seconded for changing the fork oil. Might be worth looking at better springs for you if the problem persists.

Another vote for oil and stiffer springs if it persists.

I had exactly the same thing on my SV. Until I replaced the oil.
