Had my license cancelled as a result of accumulating 6 points within first 2 years of license.

Same happened to a buddy of mine who retook his car license, plot twist is he retook and his initial pass date was put down as the first time he passed (prior to losing license) rather than the second.

Does anyone know if the same would happen to my license, and if so would it mean I can still get my full A as originally intended or if I have to wait 2 years...?

Because assuming my license has original pass date then surely as far as anyone cares I can still take full A as originally intended?

Anyone have any further info on this?

I'd be cautiously optimistic that you'd get the original dates.

Why? Because passing in one category should get you back all categories i.e. if you pass a car test, you should get your bike entitlement back as well. But since you haven't passed a new bike test, what date could they put on it except your original pass date?

However, the one thing you can't accuse the DVLA of is consistency.

Does it matter though? You're going to re-do a test (bike or car) anyway, yes?

I only had an a2, though it does make me wonder now though, what if I just took my full car license (haven't done it before), wonder if that will give me back my a2 entitlement in the process? Logically means I should but will double check with the DVLA if I can do that..

Mate of mine in question retook car license and that's all he lost also though, so fingers crossed.

Edit: Doesn't matter massively as I assumed I'd have to wait 2 years anyway, only going to send final letter to DVLA soon though so wanted to see if I could figure anything out, though thankfully this just gave me the idea of taking my cat B and regaining my a2 if possible, I will call up the DVLA to check if that's doable and get right onto it if that's allowed.

DVLA won't let you down. Thumbs Up They have top drawer licensing experts waiting to take your call. (YMMV)
They're all over this kind of stuff... You'll have a definitive 100% correct answer in no time. Shifty

Doing a fresh B to get back A2 would be a laugh. If you've been planning to get a car licence anyway, now might be the time to have a go.

To be verrrrry grudgingly fair, when I've emailed them, I have (eventually) got through to someone who actually understood the question. I didn't always get the answer that I wanted, mind.

Unfortunately that's true, I doubt it'll be anyone useful but the question is essentially basic - can I take my cat B to also regain my revoked a2, fingers crossed that's dumbed down enough. Razz

Kill 2 birds with 1 stone, and I think bike license is a lot more hassle, so I'll give DVLA a call at 12 or so and see what the educated individuals have to say, though I don't see a reason why not.

Thanks for the input though Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
