I'd be cautiously optimistic that you'd get the original dates.
Why? Because passing in one category should get you back all categories i.e. if you pass a car test, you should get your bike entitlement back as well. But since you haven't passed a new bike test, what date could they put on it except your original pass date?
However, the one thing you can't accuse the DVLA of is consistency.
Does it matter though? You're going to re-do a test (bike or car) anyway, yes? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I only had an a2, though it does make me wonder now though, what if I just took my full car license (haven't done it before), wonder if that will give me back my a2 entitlement in the process? Logically means I should but will double check with the DVLA if I can do that..
Mate of mine in question retook car license and that's all he lost also though, so fingers crossed.
Edit: Doesn't matter massively as I assumed I'd have to wait 2 years anyway, only going to send final letter to DVLA soon though so wanted to see if I could figure anything out, though thankfully this just gave me the idea of taking my cat B and regaining my a2 if possible, I will call up the DVLA to check if that's doable and get right onto it if that's allowed. |

DVLA won't let you down. They have top drawer licensing experts waiting to take your call. (YMMV)
They're all over this kind of stuff... You'll have a definitive 100% correct answer in no time. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

Doing a fresh B to get back A2 would be a laugh. If you've been planning to get a car licence anyway, now might be the time to have a go.

To be verrrrry grudgingly fair, when I've emailed them, I have (eventually) got through to someone who actually understood the question. I didn't always get the answer that I wanted, mind. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
