Hope this is the right section for this, apologies if not.
So, today was the first time the weather has been good enough for me and the mrs to get a proper ride in since buying this bike, learned loads both good and bad about it.
Also tested out the "winding road" function on my Tomtom "Rider" sat nav, its feckiing ace and that alone makes me glad i finally got around to buying one.Turned a 140 mile ride into a 300+ one. Discovered loads of twisty hidden gems in the lake district today, there are some properly amazing roads to be found when you get yourself lost.
Even followed a few dualsports down a green lane which was interesting on sports rubber and resulted in half the bike covered in muddy shit haha i need not have bothered cleaning it this morning. But what a laugh
Made it to windermere about 2pm having spent 4 hours zig zagging and crossing what felt like every bridge the motorway has. The weather was utterly perfect so got a few good pictures with one dirty bike and a beautiful view.

We set off after a meal at the Ship Inn (recommended, bloody nice food and not too expensive for what is)
We then spent a few hours in Lakes Aquarium, another reccomended spot as its only £7 and some beautiful livestock on display.

Leaving there the sat nav took us up one of the steepest roads i have ever ridden, but it was worth it at the top. Beautiful view.

The mrs wanted a new profile pic so...

And finally rode back down the NW coast to knot end for a brew before home.

Looks like we might finally be seeing the start of the good riding weather after a winter that has felt like it dragged on forever.
(i bought this bike literally just as winter started haha. )
So the bikes good points, its gorgeous has plenty of power and the handling is planted easy to ride but still feels agile. Its good on fuel averaging 35 mpg which on the roads we were on i found impressive.
The bad, the fueling is rough, if you close off too fast its entirely possible to cause the engine to "hiccup" this is only solved by rolling off and on fast.Seems the bike just trys to go mega lean, ahh well the Rapidbike Evo should sort that issue i hope.
Second major one, gearing. Why o why did aprilia think tall gearing and 140 mph top end was a good idea on a bike like this.. Anything over 90 and its downright scary, with a very light speed wobble prone front end. This combined with gearing that makes 30 mph a utter chore is a sod, you are either screaming it in first or lugging in second.
Ordered 15-48 t sprockets (16-46 stock) and a new chain to sort this issue i hope.
Any one else taken advantage to ride in the sun ?. ____________________ 2014 Aprillia dorsoduro 750 factory.

Few changes,
Fitted carbon handguards mostly as i like the look of them but they also deflect a lot of the cold away from my fingers.I just need to machine some 64mm spacers to tidy the mountings up as they have a dozen washers on each end to pack them out atm.
Sacked the mirrors off as i dont use them much (i prefer to physically look around me than rely on mirrors ) and they are just right height to hit bus mirrors when filtering and changed the decals.
Looked a bit too much before.
