Riding along a dual carriageway today, I came up to a traffic light junction on red. Just as I was about to put my foot down, first in the queue in my lane, pleasingly the lights changed, so on I duly trotted. But then, some stupid bloody woman in a Golf comes straight across my path from the left, clearly having jumped a red - but thanks to my razor-sharp reflexes and superior riding skills I fortunately managed to avoid adding myself to the spill counter.

The blonde naturally received a lengthy blast from my left thumb, followed by mucho gesticulations, sorrowful head-shaking etc, and I carried on my way.

It's at this point that I glanced back in my mirror and noticed that all of the other vehicles which were behind or next to me at the traffic lights were... still motionless at the traffic lights. OMFG; I was the one who had just crashed a red light. OhGodohGodohGod. Nearly died there and then of horror and embarrassment (not to mention by T-bone). Other than ultra poor obs I genuinely don't know how it happened; I'd swear in court that I saw the lights change (though self-evidently they didn't!). Now keeping my fingers well and truly crossed that I didn't get caught on camera (Streetview seems to suggest hopefully not...)

I hope you went after the blonde and apologised. A grovelling kissing of her ........ feet would probably have sufficed. Embarassed

If you were daydreaming a bit you maybe interpreted a green man or another set of lights as yours changing?

I did the same last week at an unfamiliar 5 road junction.
Saw green and went, lucky the bike picks up quick or i would have been in the middle of traffic.
The sodding green was for left turn filter.
I hate those combined lights, just makes things confusing when then you have multiple light controlled roads in one junction
