Hi guys,

Having a really rough time with this one. My YBR keeps cutting out randomly when opening the throttle. It can be in first, second and possibly higher gears though I never get to them.

It begins with the engine light flashing, the revs completely drop off and in most cases the engine cuts out completely though the electrics remain active. It was happening maybe 1 or 2 times a month at first but quickly kicked back in again so just assumed it wasn't to much of an issue. It became slowly more frequent and now it does it constantly. I cannot ride for more than a couple of minutes without it cutting out. As you can imagine it's incredibly dangerous suddenly cutting out in moving traffic.

I have taken the bike to a garage twice and they haven't been able to figure it out. All the wiring has been checked and the fuel pump has been replaced but it hasn't made a difference.

I am reluctant to take it to another garage because it's costing me every time and the bike obviously is not worth that much.

I am not a mechanic by any stretch but if someone has had any similar issues and found a fix please let me know. I am about to roll this damn thing off a cliff and I am sick to death of walking to work!

It is a 2014 model.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi Stephen,

Reading about this it does sound like this could be a cause. I will try replacing the lead and spark plug to see if this makes a difference and come back with an update.

Thanks for the help.
