Just recently changed the seals on my forks, and im not able to re-use the bolts that were originally in (they put up quite a fight when i took them out and had to be “forcibly” evicted from the fork)

I bought some replacement bolts which were just standard 8mm hex bolts but i noticed the ones that i took out had like a rubber ball type thing on the end of them

Do they have to be this “special” type bolt or will the standard ones do the job?

The pic attached shows the old bolt on the left and the new one on the right

There is probably a cone shaped seat that the ball seals against. Alternative you could use a copper washer to seal at the head end of the bolt, which is the more common way.
