Hey quick question for any Suzuki GS550L guys. Is there a kickstart you can add to your GS550L or is it a electric start only because I have just recently acquired a 1982 GS550L and was trying to find information about it but haven’t had any luck. Hopefully someone on here can help with my question.

AFAIK all versions of the L were electric only and all GS550s of any model were also electric only from the 1980 model year, so late 1979.

Potentially you could fit a kicker, but you will need the earlier clutch cover (assuming that fits the later engines) and all the gubbins that goes inside it.

Why would you want to add extra weight with something that’s next to useless?

My first big bike was a GS550E which had a kick start. You might be lucky and find the gubbins for one of those but I think you have to split the cases to fit it all.
