Hi all!

Just bought a 2005 CBR125 and riding it on the way back home, I noticed the temperature gauge wasn't moving at all, it just stays still all the way to the left.

I've cleaned the radiator using distilled water and changed the coolant too, and it still seems to show no reading.

I can't seem to find any manuals with clear diagrams where the therostat is, other forum posts have said there is a cable that could have been unplugged under the seat, but I can't seem to find that anywhere.

It might also be worth noting that as soon as I switch on the ignition, the fan spins up straight away. I'm unsure if this is normal or if the fan is supposed to spin up only when the bike is hot.

Does the coolant expansion under the seat need filling too for the gauge to work? I'm honestly not too sure what I'm doing, my other bikes are all air cooled Very Happy

Any ideas?

Get a meter
Locate the Green blue wire near to where it goes in the sender
disconnect and take a voltage reading with ignition on
No voltage? trace back through gauge and fuse for power
If you have a voltage say 5V+ maybe 8V poss 12V
this suggests the clocks probably (but not definitely) ok
Soo.....
If you short the same Green/Blue wire near the temp sender to ground with power on the gauge should move up to hot.
If it does, then the senders probably ferked
To test
measure the resistance between the sender and ground
many read say 1 K ohms cold which drops to around 20 ohms hot
but it varies on type
No reading suggests it's ferked

the diagram I have for a cbr125 shows the fan circuit operating independantly from the gauge one so that's probably another fun feature to look at later

At a wild guess, a previous owner has just hard wired the fan to be always on rather than sorting the temperature sensor.
