Every chain and sprocket set I’ve ever bought and fitted has had the correct number of links in for whatever bike I’m working on.....

Cut to today when I fitted my new one... I didn’t do s side by side with the old chain. 🤦‍♂️ Fitted it and it had one link too many.

So I had to re-break the chain, remove a link - and re do the link again.... it’s all fine now.. but I have two questions.

1) in my experience if you order the right chain - it come with the correct number of links in! Have I just been lucky?

2) having re broken the chain and then redone it again... have l fucked it and is it more likely to break now? Basically - are those links that I riveted twice; only for single use?

Whenever I've bought sets they've come with the correct number of links but it depends on who and where you buy from.

You'll also be fine with riveting pins and using the same one again, just squash the pin after with the tool. If you're worried about mashing your tool then hit the pin with a centre punch and bb on the otherside.

Ok - guess I’ve just been lucky. Smile

Cool thanks.
