Just wondering what date I use for for the date issued?
I was issued the provisional when I was 16 but according to MCN price comparison that is impossible. Do I use the the date I turned 17(as on the back of the card) or the date I was issued the licence?

If you're doing it online it probably wont go through if it's showing you that screen anyway so go with what works.
Or better still, you may have to give em a ring.
*ANY* misrep in filling out forms and they can/will have you if you ever need to use em.
Weird though. ____________________ My Lane Position is always AWESOME!! |

surely it would depend on what you are getting the insurance for.
Presumably for a 125 as it says 17.
When your 16 the provisional only entitles you to a 50cc, so if a provisional only entitles
you to drive a 125 from the age of 17, it would be perfectly acceptable to use a year later
as the issue date.
I would personally use your 17th birthday as the date of issue, as that is when the 125cc
is validated for use.
You may want to get it in writing from them though.
Or just use your 17 birthday as the date of birth to get the quote comparison to go through,
choose the one you wat, go through to the providers site and change the dates there, more
often than not, the actual insurance providers sites allow you to use the issue date at 16 as
issue date for a 125, its just the se comparison sites that dot allow it..
On a side note, have you tried www.gocompare.com/motorbike-insurance
Ive found they give the best quotes out of all the comparison sites, I think they work on the
basis of getting less commission so the quotes are reduced to reflect this.. |

I'll get this one for Tef:
PROVISIONAL ENTITLEMENT IS NOT A "LICENSE"!!!!11!!
You get a motorcycle "licence" when you pass your Mod 2 and not one day before. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

You have a 'provisional' licence.
What they want to know is how long you have held the entitlement you have.
Answer is that:-
- you have held provisional moped entitlement from the date the licence was issued.
- you have held provisional motorcycle entitlement from the date you became eligible for it... your 17th birthday
when you pass tests, you will gain FULL licence entitlement, and THAT entitlement starts on the date you passed your final 'test'...
ie; it zero's the clock, you do NOT carry over any time you were riding on a provisional.
It is a 'provisional' licence entitlement granted ahead of tests, and none BUT 125cc motorcyclists are ALLOWED to ride or drive on thier own ahead of tests!
Might be clearer if we used the American terminology; where they have a Driving licence after you have passed your test, but until then you have a 'Learner's Permit'.. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Why would I use a scam company which doesn't even have the basic integrity to put its name and address in its domain registry, and which employs barely literate astroturfers to shill the exact same copy-pasta all over the internets? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
