Does any one use a large screen ebook reader?

I have a kindle which is great for reading novels, but not so great for reading text books with diagrams or code samples etc.

I also have iPad which is OK, but the battery life is a bit pants and the shiney screen make it almost impossible to read out doors or any where a light is shining on it, even with an anti glare screen protector.

So I've been look and the are a couple of A4 size one on the market, the sony DPT-RP1 and the Onyx Boox max carta, but there both ~£500

Does anyone use/know of any cheaper alternatives?
