Your spec request isn't too demanding, sounds like most modern laptops will be ok.
I've had a couple of Dells that I've been happy with, also a Sony did me well for years.
I wasn't overly happy with a HP that I bought. It was rather heavy and the battery didn't seems to last very well.
Have a think about any other specs it needs. For example, I wouldn't buy a laptop now that doesn't have a backlit keyboard. I also don't need a DVD burner (or any optical drive).
Do you want touch screen / minimum number of usb ports etc?
