Looking for a laptop capable of running Autodesk. Budget of around £1k, although this can be stretched further if the specs are that much better.

Ideally would need a 17" screen, SSD drive and 16GB RAM.

A little lost as to what to get, so many options out there I don't know where to start. Any ideas?

I bought an hp envy a few years ago.
Updated to win 10. Runs more or less trouble free.

Your spec request isn't too demanding, sounds like most modern laptops will be ok.

I've had a couple of Dells that I've been happy with, also a Sony did me well for years.
I wasn't overly happy with a HP that I bought. It was rather heavy and the battery didn't seems to last very well.

Have a think about any other specs it needs. For example, I wouldn't buy a laptop now that doesn't have a backlit keyboard. I also don't need a DVD burner (or any optical drive).

Do you want touch screen / minimum number of usb ports etc?

This refurbished Dell looks quite nice for your budget (although I'd want a new battery at this price point) - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dell-Precision-7710-CAD-IPS-Workstation-Laptop-16GB-RAM-512GB-1TB-FirePro/323204465366?hash=item4b407cc2d6

basically design your own.

had one from them three years ago, been faultless, had to change battery recently but has been used every day so cant complain.
