Take a deep, calming breath.

Centre your chi.

When you feel ready, and only when you feel ready, raise your left foot, holistically.

Congratulations: you have now discovered 2nd gear.

I suspect that after riding the R125 for a few years, if the bike doesn't go neeeeèwwwww all the time it don't feel right.

Admittedly, I expect it to stall if it doesn't. Bounce!

That's better than my cbr6, which is twice as fuel efficient as my car.

All in all, the cost difference comparing 100mpg to 120mpg (+20 mpg = 20%) is much less than 20 to 40 mpg (+20mpg =100%).

You might be better looking at litres per km to make a better comparison.

I think there's a problem with that er6 btw.

Tbh, the one thing that pi$$es me off about riding a big boys bike, is the amount of times I have to refuel. Last time I checked, I was getting around 34.5 mpg from the er6f.

There's something wrong with that then. Mine didn't really get any worse than 50mpg, even when really thrashing it. The only time it got worse was when I was using it for lots of really short journeys but even then it was nowhere near that bad. I never plodded about at low rpm either, usually in 2nd in the thirties, 4th on a twisty road to keep it responsive.

90% of its use has been commuting to work and back, which is just on 3 miles each way. I'll re-check the MPG in the morning as it's been a little while since I last did so.

It had its second service not too long ago but, not sure how good the place is or whether it's something they'd pick up on unless I mentioned it to them.

Also, I generally don't like 2nd gear as I find it too snatchy. Much prefer 3rd gear once I hit 30 MPH.

I managed a princely 32mpg out of my VFR the first time I rode it. Was trying to concentrate on finding my way home and trying to work out if everything was running right... then when I got home I realised I’d left the choke 3/4 on.

Used to get 55mpg with the throttle wide open on my er6 though.

That would have been a 'good' average from my VF-Thou-of excess-Yankeeness!!!!
Book only gave it 35..... I DID manage to get a over 50 out of it a couple of times on a longer gentler tour, but too and from work? Stop start snarled up traffic between WHOOO! Open by pass!!!! crack the taps and hang on.. tended to see something rather beneath book..... before having to replace squared off 'bias-belted' tyres at an alarming rate! (about £140 and a little over 1000miles at worst ISTR!) Think that the worst I ever recorded was actually less than I got from a V8 Range rover scaring single digits!!
DID have a BIG 5 and a half galleon tank though..... ISTR it took more £'s worth from empty to fill than my Ford Fiasco of the time!!!
But still... it did NOT incline me to try commuting on the genuine French Velo-Solex moped Unc had brought and restored and stacked in the shed with lots of reference to the perkiness of Audry Hepburn's breasts in knitwear......?!?!?!?!? That MAY have had me hunting out VHS video's of Roman-Holiday at the rental shop... but that's another story!!!!!!
