Hi guys, I have a Honda Crosstourer Highlander that came supplied with Honda top box and panniers ( all use the ignition key to lock/unlock) I have replaced the Honda topbox( too small) with a Givi Trecker.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to remove the Honda lock barrel and fit it into the Givi lock in order to keep the ‘one key fits all.

TIA.

Every Givi barrel I've seen is far, far smaller than a standard bike key barrel. The one in front of me (Monokey) is 12.5mm, off the top of my head, a normal ignition key uses a barrel closer to 20mm.

Thanks for the swift reply Dippy! Does that mean that the Honda topbox barrel is probably also approx 20mm and therefore the Givi ‘hole’ would be too small?

Drill it/File it and fit it?

I think the hole should have a flat on each side too. To stop the barrel twirling.

Even with the surround for the barrel, it's still only 16.5mm across the flats. If you manage to pad it out, you will still need some sort of actuator to turn things. All the Honda barrel will do is touch a few contacts, but you need to physically rotate the latching mechanism in the case.

I have one in front of me to replace one, but I've never needed the box since, so the lock sits on my desk because frankly, I CBA.
