Day 2 of being a Gixxer fanboi. Today was dry!
Started out cursing my decision to buy a sportsbike. Painful riding position and enough power that I doubted I'd ever get out of third gear ever again.
What I love about the Striple is the hustle, its involving. The lightness and all day comfort (relatively).
Anyway, couple of friends came out to play and we did 100 miles around some of the best roads in the South. Stopped at Rykas and Whiteways for a brew and giggle. Triumph and BMW were doing promo days.
A really good day and the bike grew on me.

Colour me surprised!
Did you test ride it first, or was it just an impulse buy?

^^^Late birthday present?
I'm back after gently spanking the duke and got followed by a supermoto , I know they were following as nobody but a lost idiot or somedody doing a bike shakedown on their local testrack route would do left-left-left and left. I showed them my best lines then thundered off best I could.
Clutch behaving itself, but after riding the other bike it felt slow in every way. Predictable but slow..yes, just like the rider. ____________________ Diabolical homemade music Bandcamp and Soundcloud

Did not test ride mainly because I've been talking/thinking for months/years on it and enough was enough. Shit or get off the pot so to speak.
Bikes are not staying unsold for long and this one was a bit of a steal. It was discounted due to being non ABS 2014 pre-reg of a 2015 model with only 4k miles......which turned out to be 2.7k miles due to someone having the ODO in km mode.
I wanted a 750 and have been looking for a low mileage 2-3 year old bike for about 2 years, but especially the last 6 months. I umm and ahhh and then they are gone. I ring and book a viewing, then get a call a day later saying its sold. One large shop locally won't even offer test rides as the bikes just sell.
I did test ride a BMW RR and found it pretty comfortable. And according to cycle-ergo, the layout on the Suzuki is virtually identical. So I took a bit of a punt that it would be ok. But it is different I think.
Felt I had to scratch the sportsbike itch. The Suzuki was less than half the price of the BMW, and while likely "not as good", I won't notice.
And crucially, it was in a colour scheme I liked. Mostly black with just enough red bits that it had garage door grin factor.
AND unlike the BMW, it doesn't have a million stupidly small buttons. It's basic. I like that.
I wanted the 750 as its lighter, better handling (apparently), less power. But in the end, there are more 1000's and the price was good. As long as I don't spanner it, can probably trade it in next year for a Street Triple RS (which I suspect is probably what I want really) and won't lose too much.
Thing is, really enjoyed the Suzuki yesterday, so will see. |

Ciao
Haven’t been around for a while; lots of reasons, but primarily because I wrongly assumed the gender of the hooker I was sniffing toot off the belly of whilst grappling with some - now I come to think of it - rather oversized labia, and (s)he(z) reported me to the Po-Po for being totes raciss about LGTBIQUCWAYZ and called me out as an alt-right Jordan Peterson loving bigot. This had knock on implications for my work, resulting in them pulling my corporate card and meaning that I had to fund my own prostitution and drug related binges; which of course put pressure on the relationship with my wife as I had to steal from her, occasionally kicking her down the stairs to do so as it just made it easier than her just carrying on and on and on about it like birds do.
As a result of all those stresses my Heterosexual Life Partner Pigeon and I decided to get away from it all for a while and go somewhere rocking, hardcore and manly to get absolutely on it; so we went to the Amalfi Coast and drank wine whilst staring at each other of an evening.
Anyway, where was I? Oh, yeah that’s right – onto biking. Yeah we did some of that. We became bare honorary members of the Bykelaff Italy Krew. Could have hired Ducatis but thought that was a bit old hat and played out, so we decided on Piaggio scooters instead cos we’re wellard. Problem is that they’re built for dinky little Italians not chunking great examples of Great Britain’s finest beefcakes and as such, we couldn’t fit on that shit. So what does BCF say about Chinese scooters? Uh-ohh….
Here was my steer – affectionately nicknamed Sad Ken:

I’ll let Pigeon show you his Chink Chonk Scoot of inevitable Doooooom later.
The Amalfi Drive was absolutely 100% ballistically balls out bob on butcheringly bastard awesome:

And the Mountain Roads ain’t half bad either, with bends around scenery like this:

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/874/42277189551_081aa15095_c.jpg
We visited Pompeii – which getting to was, errrr, interesting through the towns

And the only bike related drama that we had, really, was my top box exiting its mounting at about 50mph downhill Luckily, somehow, it fell into my back and stayed put.

Top trip. Props to my HeteroLP Pigeon for being a properly decent riding buddy and for persuading me to buy far more wine and Parma ham than was ever humanly possible to consume.

Busy biking weekend. Left my flat at 6am on Saturday morning, rode from Dundee to Lochgilphead via Loch Earn, Tyndrum and Oban. Then decided to get on a boat to Arran. It was a gorgeous day, a return ticket was £14 and there was a ferry leaving shortly, so why not?!
Arran was glorious in that weather. The roads weren't made for scratching but the coastal scenery was superb, as was lunch at Brodick castle. Spent a few hours taking the views in.
Back home via Inveraray etc. 14 hour day, ~400 miles. Looong day.

Then yesterday I spent the day at Knockhill at the KMSC bike racing in tropical heat (the colour of my arms today tells the story...). My friend's son was racing his RS125 so I went along to help getting things prepped and to show support. Great day, the young lad (number 12 ) got a podium finish in his final race of the day

Looks like you had an enjoyable time, just one question, why do the bikes appear to going the wrong way at Knockhill? ____________________ "Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money!" |

Not today, as everything is still drying out, after getting caught out in yesterday's downpour, rode home through it, just in time to see the garage flooding !!!
I have to say, in the worst conditions I've ridden in for quite some.time, the ST7, held up very well indeed. No pics, as by the time I got home, absolutely everything was soaked, plus our electricity had gone, and even now we still don't have broadband !! ____________________ Beware what photos you upload, or link to on here, especially if you have family members on them |

Just got home from 3 days in Ireland, awesome roads, 750 miles covered, 3 days was no where near enough time to explore. For someone like me who gets off on bombing around single tracks it's heaven ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |
