Can anyone reccomend a way to get a car recovered approx 220 miles?

My car has broken (very unexpectedly) and need to get it recovered to where I have tools to fix it ASAP.

Or if anyone has a way to tow a car from Devon (Newton Abbot) to SE London I would pay for fuel.

Thanks for any help.

Edit: As an aside if I take out breakdown cover (the car is in a secure place) then get it recovered after the 24 hour period are they likely to recover me as it is 'technically' outside of the rules of already being broken down?

Hire a car trailer? Of course you'll need something to tow it, assuming you have towing on your licence, so you could hire a van as well. It'll cost a few quid and I guess it could be worth a to call a couple of recovery companies and see what they'll charge.
Alternatively join a breakdown provider, wait a couple days and then call them up having broken down. Of course this would be fraudulent and very naughty.

It would be much easier if you just had breakdown cover before. It's why most people buy it.

They'll never know that it was already broken down. Mr. Green

Or, if you know someone who has breakdown cover that covers them for any vehicle then if they're feeling generous, you could get your car recovered by their breakdown cover.

Suck it up and get cover in future. Autoaid cover is under £40 a year as far as I remember.

Renewed mine a couple of months ago - £43.
Worth it for peace of mind.

Thanks for the help the problem is now resolved.

The error of not having breakdown is only valuable in hindsight. In my defence I renewed my insurance whilst temporarily living abroad and took the cheapest one as was unsure when I would be back.
