My mate has a bike with a VW 1.9 TDi motor in it.
He says it goes up to about 120 in top before the turbo spools up, then the world blurs and all hell lets loose... Also 80mpg and reverse gear (which it needs) in which you CAN do reverse burnouts.
A previous incranation had the non-turbo version and no gearbox, just a direct shaft drive from the clutch. He reckoned he could let the clutch out fully at 10mph then wind-on to 110. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. So it makes similar power to a lightly tricked up modern sports bike... but weighs over twice as much... more than a car I've previously owned.
Great if you're at a fa.... pub for the otherly inclined and want to show off how your transport is even stupider than other people's! |

But due to all the gearings, it has much many torques. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Or just get a de-restricted ZZR1400 etc. Which would actually corner as well. ____________________ NSR125RR - ZXR750H1 - ZX9R E1 - GSF600S - GSF600SK3 - VFR400-NC30 - SV1000N - ST1100-R - CBR900RR-R - GSF1200SK5 - GSF600SK1 - VFR1200FA - GSXR1000K2 - ZZR1400 D8F

I think many of these things come about when someone with plenty of time on their hands and good engineering skills find themselves in posession of a spare bike frame and a cheap/free engine.
Certainly what happened with my mate with ther TDi motor. I think he paid £120 for it and shoehorned it into a spare frame he had lying about with a few bits of selected scrap metal and componants. His use of an electric steeering assist servo unit to get a useable clutch was an act of pure genius.
In all probability, the impreza bike probably cost very little in terms of money to make, just lots of time. You can get a moderately high mileage impreza engine for under £500. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. Didn't you mean to say that there's no need for these silly bendy leaning trikes with two wheels at the front, instead of a proper trike with a big beer barrel fuel tank on the back? |

Something about V twins having more torque than in-line 4s... |
