Hi All

An new Jawa is on the way, or.., should that be a slightly remodeled XY-400 TT40, also known as the Mash TT40.

Does look quite nice though ..

I like that, I thought the TT40 looks a bit peculiar without lower fairings. The fact that they've only sold 11 implies that I'm not alone.

It does beg the question of whether there's going to be any room on the market for a Jawa badged version of the Shineray though.

I like it aesthetically.

I don't like it pretends to be a Jawa.

I don't like the crap engine it has in it. Should be a screaming banshee 2 stroke but as the world would die of 2 stroke fumes according to our lords and masters, at least a 4 stroke with a bit of grunt.

In the end, another rebranding of a seen before standard Chinese offering.

Thumbs Down

Counterpoint: I reckon it's about the right amount of power for that bike for using it on a UK road. Wishing isn't going to make 6 cylinder 250s come back.

What might also work is something like the 14,000 redline 250 twin in my Ninja, or the 300 version that succeeded it. Possibley not any faster than a 400 single on public roads, but you get to use all the revs and all the gears.

It is what it is though, a very pretty bike that's doubtless great fun to bimble around on while making "Vroom vrooom" sounds inside your Bell Bullitt.

I like that Thumbs Up .
Once I’ve put my old 70’s bash hat on and found some quiet roads, that looks like fun.

Very pretty - I like it a lot. But having been bitten before by appalling chinko quality standards I doubt I'd part with 5k for one. Maybe a wait
for a second hand one. If it's still hanging together after a few years it would be a fun buy.

They can make perfectly decent stuff when they want to. The issue is what happens if you do get a lemon.

Well, my Mash 400 (basically the same bike) is almost 3 years old now, has been ridden through 3 winters, and, so far, still no issues, signs of corrosion are negligible, nothing, aside from the rear rack for which I was the reason that it broke, that isn't a consumable has been replaced or needed to be replaced.

I will post a proper update on the Mash thread, when I see if I hit any problems come first MOT time..

Looks cool. Doesn't look as cool as an Enfield continental GT and costs about the same. You can get rickman replica fairings all over the place.

I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles.

If that's the case there's no contest.

I see your wisdom, however! Mash engine or Enfield engine?
Plus if they are near about the same price, you will then need to add the cost and agro of fitting a fairing to the Enfield.

Although a faired Enfield GT Continental in that style does sound interesting.

I'm surprised that it's not being offered as a dealer-special.

On that, sales of the GT are dropping. 96 in 2013, then 182, 211, 162, and back down to 97 in 2017. We're actually lucky that we get niche bikes like this at all - I'd hesitate to take a punt on them as a dealer or importer.

I think a lot of people who might be in the market for one are waiting to see what the new 650 twins are like.

It would cost more for a GT WITH the fairing (around another £800 or so). However...
