Depends what you mean by back, and patch. It doesn't seem particularly well enforced.

Those are all jackets with a picture on the back.

I'd say that to count as a "backpatch" most interested parties would need a top and bottom rocker as well as a central motif. At least such is the format MC outfits consider to be "theirs".

Most of them seem to now consider people wandering about in Black Label Society and Sons of Anarchy clobber to be beneath them. Most, not all.

It's all odd politics though, there are a few normal motorcycle clubs who have long worn a backpatch too. For example Ogri MCC and, as has been mentioned HOG.

They're much more relaxed about such things on the continent.

Trouble is when you get a coked-up prospect out trying to make a reputation for himself and ANYTHING can happen. A mate at the Rock and Blues was TOLD to remove his t-shirt because it had a skull and pistons on it or they would remove it for him. He was left walking about shirtless.

Not MC patches, but I don't see a lot of 'education' going on about where patches should be worn.

In short, rally orientated, brand, owners club patches on the front and side patches are less problematic. RC's are largely ignored unless they're really stupid. MCC to a lesser extent, they probably need to ask the local club. Top and bottom rockers are usually going to piss an MC off. A 1% diamond is just asking for it, I think anyone that's into bikes enough to want to form a club knows the latter one.

Ultimately, it's down to the local clubs to object to patch placement and style, and sometimes individual chapters/regions/sets, to ok stuff. Whats good for chapter A with club Z may not be in chapter B of club Z.

I've seen kids advised to remove SoA stuff (by patch members), but it wasn't a nasty advisory, they were obviously just trying to be "cool" kids (teens) and it was real advice, not a thinly disguised threat. Further back it was a band of some sorts that had ill-advised rockers. What really seems to piss tpeople off is someone like you or me, people without patches, going up and telling others what they can and can't wear. In their eyes, we haven't "earned" that right.

Just to make it clear - I'm not in a club, well known, 1% or otherwise, but I know a few people that are in club(s), some of which are well known and 1%. I'm lucky enough to have been able to ask questions back when I first interacted with certain people, and get answers that seem perfectly legit. I'm just repeating what I've been told. Make of it what you will.
