One end is connected to the + terminal on a 12v deep cycle lead acid battery. The other end goes somewhere else I am not sure of yet. Something that likely draws a decent amount of current judging by the size of the cable.

Reminds me of those spark testers but this is (I hope) not that.

Given the 'Autoleads' branding, I'd hazard a guess at something to do with car audio. Is there a sub woofer somewhere in the car?

Looks like a fuse of some sort.

Found it: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Autoleads-SN2-30-Satin-nickel-car-audio-AGU-fuse-holder-for-4g-or-8g-cable-/160700117550

I had a similar fuse on a cable that went direct to a 12v fridge on my old boat from the leisure battery bank.

Just in case anyone didn't understand my gif.

Yes, it is power to the amp for the sub. Just a fancy fuse holder.
