The question remains, why would any knob want to film every journey they ride? Should this sort of person not worry more about getting a hobby, going out more, or just getting laid?

Because you might get involved in an RTC and need the footage as evidence to prove your side of the story. This stops it from becoming a he said she said situation and can considerably speed up the insurance process.

I record my motorbike rides and drives in my cars. I don't keep the videos if nothing happens and I usually delete at the end of the week unless something interesting happened.

Oh and also situations like this:

Or this:

Or this:

Unless of course you can predict with great accuracy when you may be involved in a scam and or an RTC of course.

Camera proves your point...doesn't make you right/wrong. Missing it all by not caring and filtering like a bastard wins.

I ride with a helmet camera because I want to record the day I get sprayed in the face with acid for my bike because byklyf, yo.

No, not really.

Personally it's just false of habit at this point and the most use I've had out of it is to watch back mechanical faults post ride with a clearer head.

Sometimes save ride footage on new routes to see where I can improve and also use to remind where to go if not ridden that road in a while; otherwise deleted at the end of every ride.

Makes no difference to my riding or attitude on the road in the slightest.

I don't own a POLITE vest, can I has some credit back now?

Trying not to be rude, but....byklyf aren't seen riding lardy, restricted zr7s in any of the footage I've seen. Although, if it fell on them, you'd be up in front of a magistrate before them. Making an excuse for a camera is not a replacement for improving your cognitive skills by remembering where something changed during your ride.
