Bike Insurance?

Is it possible to insure a bike for road use without a bike licence?

I do not have a bike licence but will be applying to DVLA for an age related plate for a 1953 150cc BSA BANTAM and bike has to be insured using Frame Number.

Only need insurance for that purpose alone, once I have age related plate bike I aim to SORN it.

Is this possible or will I need to "phone a friend" with a bike licence to get insurance?

Any advice much appreciated!

First, is this definitely still the case? DVLA used to require frame number registration for newly registered bikes, but they've since stopped that.

If they do, then is it really going to be an issue if you say "Yeah, have licence" then cancel within 14 days, never having ridden the bike?
