Hello guys.. new on here. Does anyone know of any rental shops in North Hertfordshire (nr Stevenage)? or Would anyone be interested in some sort of bike share/loan?

I used to ride sports bikes in my 20s but now in my late 30s and really want to get into touring (longish distances) but don't want to drop £15k on a new bike until I've ridden a few flavours for a good amount of time... Also, as I have a young family not sure how much time I'm goin going to get on the bike hence my hesitancy over dropping serious cash.... I'm thinking BMW GS 1200 range right now but interested Goldwing and Triumph too...

Any ideas on shops would be really appreciated.

Cheers !

There's not a lot of bike rental around, and it runs expensive compared to cars.

Given the turn-key depreciation on new bikes, you could afford to try out quite a few pre-loved examples even if you lose a couple of hundred when you chop them in. One that I'd throw out there is the Suzuki GSX1250F, which offers a heck of a lot of foot pounds per £.

Or if a dealer balks at you taking out a demonstrator for a whole weekday and bringing it back with a full tank of fuel, then I'd wonder what they'd be like after they have your money.

What sort of touring are you planning? And why a GS rather than an RT or GT?

SBW Mottorard in Herts used to. now renamed Lind Motorrad and moved to Welwyn Garden City, doesn't say if they do on their website
does not look like it
https://www.lindmotorrad.co.uk/

Black Bear Harley, now called Lind Harley (what's the Lind connection I wonder) do, they want much £££ though nothing for under £100 a day https://www.lindhd.co.uk/pages/rentals--tours/harley-davidson-rentals.htm

Even further afield, and one I have considered using before myself, but haven't, is West Sussex Motorcyle Hire
https://www.westsussexmotorcyclehire.co.uk/

cheapest bike is about £30 for a day

Thanks for that. I’ll take a look at Suzuki . I used to ride a GSXR600 am loved it. I see your point about getting something second hand and selling it on after a bit. Probably what I’ll do 👍

Awesome thanks I love right next to the top one and I do t think they do. Others are too far for me normally but I’ll see if a Harley for a day is worth it sometime. Cheers 👍
