Hi can anyone help? My bike has been sat for about 6 months, only starting it now and again. I was gonna go get it MOTed and it started straight up then cut out after about ten seconds, tried again and it wouldn't. Cleaned carbs still not started realised there was no spark. Bought new plugs anyway as had the bike 8 years and never changed them so thought why not. It occasionally starts then cuts out with no spark still??? It has a Datatool 3 alarm on it but not sure if that has an immobiliser on, could it be that? Any help would be appreciated as I'm not a mechanic and this is confusing the hell out of me. Thanks

Battery ok? Clean fuel? If youve stripped it to clean carbs, is everything connected back correctly? Check coils would be my next stop.

Most likely a dirty / corroded connector on the loom. One item to check is the diode in the ignition switch. Can't remember the exact pin on the ECU that connects it but it has to have 9 volts on it or the ECU kills the spark. Look it up on the wiring diagram. If I get some time I'll have a look.

The carbs were cleaned and put back as they were. The problem is no spark but can't figure out why. I don't think it would be the coils because one coil does two cylinders so I think it would be unlucky for both coils to break at the same time. I'll check connection at the cdi unit. Thanks

If it has an alarm/immobiliser - suspect that first!
