Scrote has earned himself 3 years 8 months in the chokey. More than I expected to be fair.

I am surprised, even though it turns out that he had previous (shocking, I know).

Out in another 18 months then (1/2 served, less time on remand). Enough time for his missus to squeeze out one milkman's bairn and have another on the way.

I know this is an old tread, but how is the situation in Edinburgh in 2018?
Any better? I was thinking of a trip at the end of July, but now I am a bit concerned.

It's not a bad city really in terms of crime. I've never had an issue there. Bike theft is a bit of a problem though and I wouldn't leave mine unattended there. It's a crap place to drive too.

There're better places to visit in Scotland than Edinburgh. If you're riding up I reckon you can bypass it entirely without being too worse off for it.

Depends why you're visiting. Student night is excellent, with lots of posh totty in the pubs and clubs. History such as the castle is reasonable. Roads are shite. You're the wrong side of the country for the good roads. For that reason alone I wouldn't take my bike, along with having it stolen is low on my priorities right now.

I go to Edinburgh quite often (but not on the bike) this week for a change i spent 4 days in Stirling. After driving the roads around there i wish i had taken the bike.
Plenty of tourist stuff to do around there as well, i stayed in a travelodge in the city centre, a newish ZX1000 was parked outside, no locks not even the steering lock on, it was still there every morning, doubt you could do that in Edinburgh.

Belongs to the local godfather of crime, that's why.
