I live just outside of the proposed area, luckilly I have a E4 bike so it's not that big of a deal for me. The whole idea is a scam, everyone knows the council is flat broke.
Figured that if I selected Muslim/Black on the last page my views would carry more weight, we all know the council are terrified to offend those peope. |

2017 onwards? Good for you. If you mean E3 (2007 onwards), we do have an issue there that once they've got a taste for it, they'll bump bike ecolunacy to Euro 4 sooner or later.
'kin hell, was that survey done by an undergrad? You can tick any/all vehicle types and "None of the above".
Yes, I'm also a disabled muslim lesbian pensioner. I'm well triggered that I had to make a binary gender choice though. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

£4 on the bus, sorted.
Stopped taking bike into city after hearing of ones going missing, with nothing being done, from the Bullring -- also the bike bay by Snobs seems to get visits regularly because no ground anchors.
Skirt round the city on the A4540 to get to Bristol, Perhsore, Alscestar, Hagley road etc.
Interesting to see how would effect couriers: about the only bikes I see in the city.
Or go to Solihull, free of charge, and have a pleasanter experience. ____________________ The do it all, T̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶r̶o̶k̶e̶n̶ ̶o̶n̶e̶,̶ ̶T̶h̶e̶ ̶b̶i̶g̶ ̶l̶u̶m̶p̶,̶ ̶C̶h̶o̶n̶g̶ ̶N̶o̶o̶d̶l̶e̶ |

Sad times in a way for Birmingham, and a proportion of the what a few hundred bikes? will be affected and need replacing to park in the city centre.
On another hand, Birmingham isn't all low emission taxis and private hire cabs using Prius's etc, so a change to taxi legislation would do 100x what cleaner bikes will for pollution.
A large number of buses are hybrid though, and then there's the largely pointless tram that doesn't really relieve any congestion due to it not going where it's needed.
But what about all the trains on non electrified routes,
I don't see any obvious signs of catalysts and DPF's on the DMU's, and I don't think they run ad blue either? Then the awful smoggy pollution the Virgin trains fill New Street station with, and never get switched off when waiting, (probably to keep the first class air conditioning working). Clean the diesel trains up and or add something like start/stop systems, and that's going to clean the city up more than all the bikes and and cars too.
In France (Paris) it looks like they are reducing second hand values of decent used bikes considerably due to not allowing them into the city. Its good for us in that we are getting a few fairly priced usable old bikes imported into the UK, but it's very wasteful and driving a culture that making loads of new vehicles is seen as better for the environment than running older bikes with plenty of life left in them.
Oh and what happens to classic vehicles and ones that pump out all the evil unburnt hydrocarbons? Are we banned from crossing the city using the most direct route? |

It's just a money making exercise under the 'Look at us cleaning up the city' crap.
Every council in the country will be looking to it to boost their finances.
A bit like Milton Keynes (a city designed with the car in mind) council putting parking charges on all the city centre car parking that was originally free - to encourage people to use public transport to the centre.
Yeah right. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

As per the Glasgow LEZzer thread, the super high reading in Hope Street is due to the diesel trains, diesel buses and diesel taxis (idling, most of them) concentrated there. Witness the placement of the air quality monitoring station.
In response to that one problem in that one place, they've mandated electrobuses all across the toon. But they haven't even started on enforcement of that before announcing a toon-wide poverty tax on private cars and motorcycles as well.
And when they find to their amazement that it has no effect on measured air quality (as the measurements are taken on streets with effectively no private cars or motorcycle), what do?
