Lots of places I've been before, but this time with a friend in tow
Stow Maries WW1 Airfield:
https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1765/43405751431_fe6852577b_c.jpg
It's a cracking little place this. Going to have to go back for a guided tour and spend a bit more time around there. I reckon you need a couple to three hours to do it justice
As it happened, we just had a breakfast roll and a cup of tea and headed off up to Bradwell:
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/834/43405753281_80a8a96449_c.jpg
And then finally, Burnham on Crouch for a cup of tea:
https://farm1.staticflickr.com/837/43405753691_557db77146_c.jpg
Then we did the Burnham bends on the way out before splitting off from each other around Cold Norton and heading our separate ways. I was home an hour later, having notched up about 125 miles today. My mate unfortunately wasn't so lucky, he got about 3 miles from home and his chain snapped Oops. Still, recovery sorted him out and he lives to fight another day.
Good times |

Kawasaki Jimbo wrote: | Duxford Flying Legends Airshow. Bit disappointed this time though. They seem to have turned over larger chunks of the flight line to wealthier punters who'll pay extra to sit on a grandstand or in front of a marquee with a bar. Us plebs now get pushed further back and towards the edges. I left early and briefly joined the tight-wads on surrounding lanes where the aerial views are often better. No jets on this 100th anniversary of the RAF (maybe at the September show) but the expected multiple WW2 fighters tail-chase was awesome, if a bit distant. Rule changes after the Shoreham air crash might have influenced that. Christ, it was hot though. I hate to diss a glorious summer but it's a bit warm for bike gear. |
That was a brilliant airshow when I went some years ago. Shame to hear that the privileged are ruining it for others.
Today, I did mostly do Langdale, but first, a quick snap of Blencathra and St. Johns in the Vale:
https://s20.postimg.cc/toiqgtrwt/DSCN0904.jpg
Harrison Stickle of the Langdale Pikes prominent:
https://s20.postimg.cc/uqswzdxvh/DSCN0911.jpg
The Band, with Bow Fell lost in the cloud:
https://s20.postimg.cc/3vivkcr4t/DSCN0915.jpg
On the way up the gnarly little pass between Great Langdale and Little Langdale, which as far as I'm aware doesn't actually have a name:
https://s20.postimg.cc/pupa7md4t/DSCN0916.jpg
At the top, parked up and gazed at the view. Thought, "I'd rather just be walking the fells today." So I had a little stroll up to the top of Side Pike.
Harrison Stickle and Pavey Ark:
https://s20.postimg.cc/96xs58kz1/DSCN0934.jpg
I've camped by Stickle Tarn, out of sight in front of Pavey Ark in that pic, on a couple of occasions. There is apparently a somewhat tricky scramble across the face of Pavey Ark, and it's also a favourite spot for local climbers.
On the left, Crinkle Crags, then Shelter Crag, with The Band and Bow Fell in the middle, and Pike of Stickle on the far right of shot:
https://s20.postimg.cc/gzofx7ynx/DSCN0943.jpg
Quite happy leaving the bike parked here while I went for my walk; I reckon Langdale isn't much attended by dodgy characters, which can probably be said for most of the Lake District:

The Langdale Pikes:

Bye bye Langdale:

A little wander around some Welsh roads to test a new oil line. That works, pity about the Scottoiler.
Stopped at the Ponderosa for a coffee on the way around.

Hartside yesterday with my mate who's just copied off me and got a 990 also, except it's newer and only got 5,000 miles on it
Surprised to see Zero there with a few electric bikes so took one of them out for a quick go, and I mean quick, one of the shortest test rides ever, 2 miles max I was suppose to have a go of the higher power one but it said 22% battery, but all of a sudden dropped to 0%, bit weird. I tried the learner friendly 125 equivalent and it wasn't bad. I'd only be interested if I commuted by bike, but I don't so they're no good for me. ____________________ KTM 990 SMT & Suzuki DR-Z 400 SM |

Well, the weather is just too nice to not take at least some advantage. So, I decided to go back to the Blythe Inn, taking a slightly different route. First Off, the Blythe Inn was chokka, and even a live band on.. The Mash got plenty of attention !!. As for the the other pubs in the Photos..
The Swan at Whiston, do an excellent Steak night every 2nd Tuesday of the month..
The Hartley Arms at Wheaton Aston, simply just a nice pub on the canal. As you can see, I've put up a screenshot of the route I took, and if you follow this link, you'll get the google maps route !

Short spin, wound up at the Kirkstone.

Had a clamber up the hill behind the inn:

Silent up there after the bustle around the Kirkstone Inn, didn't see a soul. Who wouldn't want to wander on these fells? ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Nice run in the sun down to the coast for fish'n'chips at Rye so as to put a few more miles onto the bores of my friends new Speed Triple last night (Wednesday). Not much traffic on the roads once we got away from the M20 at Wrotham Heath after meeting up with others at the Oakdene cafe, before heading south via Yalding,Collier Street and down towards Goudhurst via the twisties.

Well, got to blow the cobwebs away a bit tonight!! Don't you just hate it when work gets in the way !! Was pretty much a run over my usual stomping ground. Stopping first to get a pic of British motorcycling history, the Sunbeam factory in Wolves, presently being turned into luxury flats. I then went to see wjat the bike night at the Lock in Wolverley is like, plenty there, but, not an especially friendly bunch, so, shalln't bother again. Then, pottered round to the Royal Oak, on the Bridgnorth road, but alas, the bike night there seems have died on it's feet . Still a nice ride out, if only around 50 miles

Brands novice only day yesterday. Felt like one of the fastest cunts out there though, so probably going to be doing general track days from now on and moving to inters knee down on every corner, eventually including paddock hill bend which I was scared to try on at first.
Last time I went, I was a lot slower, no knee down, still worrying about where to look/what gear to be in. This year I feel completely natural and like I owned this track so I'm really happy with the day.
The funny thing about the pic below is I ended up racing with the guy behind me on the GSXR600. We were in the same garage, really cool bloke lol, we must have overtook one another about 5 times before I went into Surtees FAR too hot and ended up braking onto the run-off area and having to rejoin track. Glad I didn't hit the grass. They brought the yellow flag out too

125 mile bimble around the Cotswolds and back for a few hours. Got lost, found some nice roads around the Rollrights though. Basically followed B roads back to Banbury. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

Where is that?
I went out on the KTM yesterday just for a familiarisation blast. I'll be honest, I've been scared of it lately.
riding the Enfield more has softened me up and almost got me into bad habits I'd say, because you hardly ever end up in trouble on something so ploddy.
The KTM is a sensory assault. I've been so out of touch with it the last few times I've been out, including a little away weekend with Pigeon up to Lincolnshire where I just couldn't get myself up to speed with it which was really frustrating In fact it was so bad I thought about selling it off.
Yesterday, I started off pretty wobbly and concerned but then I had a good reach down the front of my pants, located my shrivelled little testicles and gave them a good stretch out whilst having words with them about disappearing up inside myself making me feel like a lady. Told them to cut that shit out. Then, and only then, I committed to the bike - blood and gutsing it.
And then it came alive all of a sudden I'm screaming the tits off the Akras and belting through 2nd, 3rd, 4th bouncing off limiters on occasion. Bike felt stable, composed even. Still felt like it was going to spank me if I got it wrong - but my freshly stretched and coerced testicles kept me at it.
No pictures though. Sad times. |
