Trump's approval rating rises above its initial level, despite the absolutely constant and ever more desperate shrieking from the deep state, the legacy media, and their celebrity cheerleaders. None of it is sticking.

It's still low, but he's not up for re-election yet, and his support among the people who actually voted for him is rock solid. Once again, the God Emperor subverts the established narrative.

Note the contrast with other Presidents, who start high on hopes, dreams and ambitions, and tail off as reality catches up with their glib promises. Trump is doing the unthinkable and actually delivering on his Murca First rhetoric.

If this is where he's at 18 months in, imagine what he'll do once immunity to Trump Derangement Syndrome starts spreading in earnest. Dance!

You're right, rhetoric is the one and only thing he's got!

Mannafort's trial has begun!

Boy oh boy oh boy.

It's difficult to even choose a way to jape about this, as there are just too many.

I'm too busy trying to stock enough tinned food thanks to Brexit to worry about whose gas I'm using anyways - but even that's likely a waste of time cos global warming will probably get me before Brexit has a chance to bite Laughing

They are when you're everybody's biggest customer, and you have the resources, population and capability to manufacture locally if anyone's minded to call your bluff and escalate tariffs too far.

Air con. won't be much use when the river Eden has drowned everything between the Lake District fells, the North Pennines and the Scottish Southern Uplands anyway. But...at least I'll be able to paddle my canoe to any shops that might be lucky enough to be on higher ground Smile

Being viewed as the toughest on immigration is the biggie. Note that the God Emperor hasn't pressed ahead with building the promised wall. He wants cheap labour, and he doesn't care about the demographic consequences for the future Republican party, since he's not a Republican. But by being the bigliest vocal opponent of violent animals, he secured the votes of the 'they tuk muh jaaarb" brigade, and has their loyalty.

To be sure, you know that's what pacing and leading means? That you start by taking the most extreme position on an issue, become perceived as the leader of that faction, then you can lead that mob in a different direction.

Today, it looks risible that he's suddenly trying to position himself as the most anti-Russki president ever. But... yesterday he said the exact opposite. Who would fall for that?

But he's been laughed at from the very moment he announced his candidacy. Nobody would take him seriously. OK, dumb people are, but nobody smart would take him seriously. Well, I mean, nobody smart and informed... smart and informed and decent... smart and infor- wait, he's President now?

Let's see what tomorrow brings. The wonder of the God Emperor is that he does the impossible twice before breakfast. The best breakfast that anyone has ever eaten in the history of food.

It's keeping up appearances higher than anyone has ever kept them up before. Murca is going to have the highest appearances in the world.

I'm not arguing the ethics, just the effectiveness of the strategy in being an extremist in the things that you believe in, and the things that you don't.

"The world" is not entirely composed of the Stable Genius's base. The base may perceive his antics as alpha bigliest biggism, but to much of the rest it's just toddler tantrum. They just don't respond to it at all.

He doesn't care about The World though, except as in it directly impinges on Murca First.

North Korea is dismantling its nukes, Drunkers is going night-cap in hand to beg for the God Emperor not to escalate a trade war that He will surely win.

Wait... you do realise that The World isn't run by revolting rent-a-mobs, or even the voting proles, but by a handful of despots and oligarchs, right? Sure, Trump was only worth a couple of billion, small fry in that company, but now he's got trillions to play with, and he speaks their language of leverage and power.

You mean if you keep repeating an obvious lunacy or lie people will begin to think there must be some truth in it, or else why would you keep saying it.

No, that's not what pacing and leading means.

It means that you take someone else's obvious lunacy which already has a following, ramp it up to eleven, and attract all that lunatic's followers to your banner.

Yep, makes total sense. Rolling Eyes

North Korea is dismantling its nukes

There is no evidence of that. It may not be universal knowledge among Stable Genius's base, but one doesn't dismantle a nuke by tweeting at it.

Like he's winning currently, by throwing tax dollars at a problem he himself created, true communist style? Again, makes perfect sense Rolling Eyes [/quote]

I believe they have 'dismantled' their nuclear testing site.
Ya'know, the one thought to be partially collapsed and too unstable to use any more, what with the 6 nuclear bombs detonated in it.

Correct, 'dismantling' their research facilities (which is what they said they would do) is somewhat different from not manufacturing stuff what makes purdy mushroom clouds.

Nothing totalitarian at all in trying to withdraw security clearances from folks that oppose the God Emperor.
