My phone has just (over the last week or so) put up symbol in the top bar VOLTE.

Googles says it means voice over LTE and will use 4g and result in a clearer line.

However I presume that if it is using 4g it is using my data whereas I have unlimited phone calls.

Am I right in my supposition and should I therefore turn it off or is the data used so miniscule it doesn't matter?

TBH I can't tell if there has been any improvement or not in the sound.

According to Vodafone

Quote:
Voice over LTE (VoLTE) is a feature that allows voice calling over our 4G network using compatible devices. It allows you to remain connected to the 4G network during calls, which means you can continue using 4G mobile data while making and receiving calls.

So no, it does not use Data, but uses the same 4G network that the super-fast 4G internet runs on
