Yep, give the PR5's a go.

Oh I'm about to put a PR4 on the front of my CBF500 soon, watch this space.

Do I double down and see if the 5s are better? Or does anyone else have a recommendation for a decent set of tyres that are good all year round and don't square off?

Regardless of the wear the PR4's were a good tyre, I got about 8k from a pair and the handling was not too bad at the end, in the wet was starting to squirm.

Join the club, I've put 5's on. Time will tell but I feel they're already a better tyre than the PR4.

Enjoy, they're a smidgeon more sporty than the PR4s.

And further update to the original post.

Adjusted the chain today and the left side was "marginally" different to the right. Around 1mm.

Fixed now anyway as it wouldn't have been helping the issue.

It's not the tyres, it's the way you ride.

Discounted early on. I haven't changed the way I ride and this is the first set of tyres to do it (PR4s)

I'm happy to admit it might be a combination - but definitely didn't happen with the pr3s

Not as daft as it sounds.

You sit more to the right side of the bike. Thus it leans over to the right. PR4's have softer compounds on the outside edges. Thumbs Up

Wow. It went on last night. First ride this morning.
Straight off the bat with no running in I can tell the difference. For the first time it feels more "sport" than "tourer"

Very impressed.

1 mm where?

If you check frame/wheel alignment using string you can ensure the gradient marks on the swing arm are relevant to each other.
No doubt they are.

Probably your wear issue is a combination of the tyre construction, bike, bike settings, your style of riding and road design where you ride or have done most mileage.

Tyres should not wear on one side more than the other unless there is a problem.

I fit two sets of tyres per year on one bike and about 2.5 sets on the other.
I never see any uneven wear as you describe.

Yeah agree it's s combination. Spoke to the mechanic who fitted the new tyre as well. He does 20-25k per year on his tourer and gets a similar problem.

I've probably got some riding "quirks" that exacerbate the issue though. I did note today for example that I favour sitting more towards the left of the seat. 🤦‍♂️
