Always fancied one of these. This came up in Norfolk and I snagged it for £2150. It's a 2000 A1 model, the first of the 12s but was written off in 2005 as a cat D after a slow speed drop. Everything was replaced with OEM bits.

30k miles, stock apart from indicators, MRA screen, crash protection and clear rear light. Very, very clean bike in the most wonderfully lurid metallic green. Only issue I have found is it wants head bearings which isn't a surprise after 30k miles and 18 years.

This is my replacement for the bandit as a straightline/road bike so going to put up a project thread soon.

I'm afraid the CBR went to finance this already Pads. Crying or Very sad

You can expect this, with a NOS bottle hanging off the side.

I'd like to keep this NA and run a bit of nitrous through it when the chassis and dyno work is done. The turbo Bandit had power but was massively heavy, aerodynamically fucked and being foot shifted with no injection trickery/launch control and hilarious laggery was a bastard to get off the line.

This is a much better platform to work with and won't be far off if not better than the Bandit time wise just with a stretch and some practice.

Military road is just about scrap now for stuff like that, surface is terrible.

Spec on the bike is:
68" wheelbase.
4 inch drop.
Brocks multi position lowering dogbones
Drag approved Tie-downs
Billet MTC clutch basket w/internal oiling mods
Brocks clutch spring upgrade
Custom built Penske lightweight drag shock
8-12" billet extensions
8" over drag approved heavy duty chainguard
150 link RK drag chain
Geared 16/48 (6 teeth over stock) on Supersprox sprockets.
BMC filters
Brocks Alienhead full exhaust system (street clearance system w/stepped headers)
Power commander V
Ignition module
Dynojet quickshifter
Kleen Air removed
Driven Performance smog block offs
Crank breather to atmosphere
Shido lightweight battery
Full set lurid green silicone hoses
Aftermarket polished ally rad
Spare rim with 190 drag radial mounted for gettin down t'business.
HI-larious popo baiting numberplate angle.
Chinky multi position adjusto-matic stand. Changed the jesus bolt, still hasn't broken in half.

Setup with launch control to help get it off the line as consistently as possible (2 step w/release on the clutch switch) and also a hidden switch on the dash that will switch the bike between NOS and N/A maps when required allowing a safe dry 40-60hp shot to be used. WOT switch on the throttle means bike can launch on the bottle if needed. NOS system is next on the list and then it can be dynoed and setup to all work together in glorious harmony, but even now it is hilarious fun on the road and really rather scarily quick.

Few more detail pics of the bike.

I assume as those Swingarm extensions are use a lot they must be safe, but my head tells me they are an awful idea and not strong enough for the job.

The 12 inch blocks of solid billet aluminium? yeah, far more likely to break than the hollow, wafer thin original swingarm.

Wink

It's more how it joins and the length of it without bracing. I feel like it is going to twist or rip the standard swinger where it joins. I've never seen this so I'm sure it's fine, still doesn't look right to me Laughing

Whether you like long low extended Swingarms or not, the fact remains your not going to get any bike to do the 1/4 into the 9's or under without one!

If I had a tuned nitrous equipped 200bhp+ engine and wanted to use full throttle from a standing start, I'd be wanting a long extended swing arm too. I think this sort of mod really suits bikes like OP's as they arnt sports bikes, and can't be hustled round tight bends or flicked on their side like an Aprilia RS250, so wanting to give them more traction and stability in a straight line sounds like a very good idea.
