Hello everyone,
My battery may need replacing soon. Is it essential to choose one that is compatible with the specified part for your bike (it has a Yuasa YTX7L-BS now) or is it safe to use anything that has the right voltage, amperage and about the right dimensions?

Thanks,
S

I have one of these batteries in my bike and it's been fine. Slightly fiddly terminal nuts would be my main and only gripe.
Tayna, as always were spot on with their delivery and p&p.

I go for same type, will fit, decent cranking current, longest guarantee. As above, I have found Tayna good.

Interesting I was in fact looking at the same model on Tayna's eBay store! I've put it in my watch list. I topped up my current battery and will see how long it lasts. If it starts needing topping up all the time then I'll replace with this.

You should never top up a sealed maintenance free lead acid battery! Get the same size or the battery that was actually designed for the bike!

Also powerline batteries are shit. Forever throwing them away

If you have a 'smart' type charger then it's fine as it monitors the input / output voltage and cuts off automatically.

My Yuasa Battery as supplied with the bike never even lasted 18 months from new. I threw it away.

I have had a few Yuasa batteries, all have lasted 5 years or more.
Tried a cheap Taiwan one which lasted one winter.
Maybe the latest ones are made in China/ Taiwan?

Motobatt have always been good for me. I had one on my GS and even after leaving it collecting rust for 6 months it would still turn it over. Prior to installing the Motobatt I was putting a new battery in every 18-24 months where as the Motobatt was still going when I sold the bike 5 years after installing it.
