Sounds like it’s anything but...

You’ll have to use your phone, so I hope you have a good data plan. If you do get around it and you get caught, it’ll be an embarrassing disciplinary meeting.

Go oldschool. Buy a dirty magazine from the corner shop/motorway services.

I've never been in this situation, but doesn't VPN bypass this? If so, Opera's Private Mode has a VPN built in.
Other than that, torrents and/or Newsgroups.

You can't go without for 4 days?

If you can download torrents then do that but make sure to use a VPN, My ISP has received complaints from film producers or what not that my IP has downloaded a film.

I think it was the Fast and Furious and I've had it once for another big film but wouldn't be surprised if they started doing the same with porn.

Serious question, what’s a VPN? And where do you get them?

It's a virtual private network. It emulates a private connection between point to point over a wide area network (such as the internet).

You can use a web based VPN as a portal to connect securely to a point that appears to be somewhere else as far as the world is concerned, as if your computer were at that point rather than it's real location. So for example you could use a VPN to connect to the USA so you can watch US Netflix or on demand services over it. The usual downside is that once connected ALL traffic has to pass down that pipe, so it can massively slow your internet connection. There are tonnes about, but probably a fair few with malware or spyware built in.

Lots of companies use legit VPNs to connect to their offices so they don't have to have an open internet connection to the world for security purposes.

Just a question, you've been a resident of the internet for all this time, and you genuinely didn't know what a VPN was?

People use VPN's for on demand services locked down by region, for security, and for anonymity purposes (Hacking mostly I guess). Or for example if you wanted to view porn on a work WiFi (although You're still using work equipment to view porn, so you're still breaking the IT policy even if it just looks like you've connected to a VPN portal).

You can get VPNs which cover and protect your entire nefarious internet activities. However, if you just want to stealth one out then download Opera (it's a good browser anyway), hit CTRL+Shift+N and to the left of the address bar will be a VPN button. Click that, select a region and browse away. Bonus points for not saving your browsing history as you're in incognito mode (but your network admin can still see the IP addresses you've visited).

I assume its your home wifi? If so you'll need to contact your ISP asking to turn off the filters.

Expanding on Pepper's question and good explanation from Marjay. So how insecure is a home Wi-Fi or connection to your router via a LAN. For example how easy is it for people that know what to do to view other people's Internet activities? Could I for example see what my neighbours are doing on their routers and could they see my activity or use my data or connection for their own use?

How safe is on line banking over Wi-Fi? I always assumed that the security and multiple passwords, and having to key in a random number from one of those key pad fob things means that it's hard to hack into someone's account? If not is there a safe way to access such services and if not should banks only be accessible via a VPN too?

It's not difficult at all.

Any device thats on the same subnet can talk to each other, you just need to install wireshark and put your network adapter in promiscuous mode and you should be able see all the traffic going across it. Its often used for troubleshooting networks or connection or for reverse engineering when your trying to find out how a piece of software communicates.

Most of the traffic will be in plain text so you can just extract the data from the packet you capture.

Banks use SSL to encrypt the data been sent between you and the server so even if you do capture the packets the data inside will be unreadable junk. Also using multi factor authentication provides a reasonable level of security too, as even if you steal a password you still can access the account without the mfa token, I still wouldn't do online bank over a untrusted wifi network though.

Again connecting to someone elses wifi is trivial, if they dont have a password set up you can just jump on to it, if they do have a password set up then there are tools readily available to crack the password.

I'm not sure what a tunneling site is, or if they still exist, but people have been fired from my work for looking at blocked sites by using a tunneling site. If you're going to use work wif-fi, be damn sure you know what you're doing with regard VPNs. If it's untraceable, fine. but keep it in mind

It's likely they're subscribing to a proxy/firewall service with a filter list of domains that aren't suitable. Likely the majority of free vpn and proxy sites are already blacklisted.

You probably won't be able to view bomb making recipes or join ISIS either.

Incidentally, just like five eyes, they will also be logging how many times you're trying to hit megajugs.net and ilovemassivewangers.xxx, therefore building a profile of your fluid sexuality.

I'm all for tossing it off in works time, but you really are best off splurging out on your own equipment. Sick
