So I need at least a new back tyre for the duke. I'm guessing the tyre is the original Metzeler m5 and has covered 3.5k miles. For such a small bike and the riding that I do I don't need something that is super sticky.

The issue I'm having is lack of choice for tyres in the Dukes size that aren't fast road tyres.

Front is 110/70/17
Rear is 150/60/17 or apparently a 140/70/17 works.

enlighten me

Pirelli Diablo Rosso II's seem to come in the stock 150 size. They get my vote. Cheap, dual compound and widely known. A friend of mine had them on his Duke 390 without any concerns.

Any idea how long they lasted.

Literally only used for commuting on 30mph roads so don't particularly care about grip. Especially on the back.

The sport daemons I had on the CBR i had were good but x-ply. Could get the angel city but are also x-ply

In my opinion the Rosso 2 is overkill for a commuter, something like the Michelin Pilot street radial would be much better suited.

Bridgestone bt23, t30, pilot road 3 or 4 I've ridden on and would use again. Depending on price of course., I had t30s fitted to a bike last year on a deal that made them as cheap as the older 023. If you're thinking of buying tyres only, don't forget to price up fitting, balancing etc. Could be cheaper to support your local shop.
Edit
Ok, your choice means what you want and can get are way off. Wow, you are limited. Pilot street radial look ok. (Confused size off er-6. That was 160/60/17)

I've had the bt-023 on my thundercat before, and was fine for the dry, found that it went off before it wore out, and although I don't remember it slipping in the wet, I felt nervous on it.

Although the T30's are the only sport touring tyre that comes in a size to fit my bike there's nothing online, so will see if the shop can get them in.

The Angel City's and Metzeler sportec Street are what I've been eyeing up. They are however cross ply. Likely to cause a problem?

Never had cross ply tyres (to my knowledge) on a big bike. What are ktm fitting as standard now? What does a dealer recommend?

I wouldn't call the 390 Duke a big bike, 40hp and 150kg wet weight.

My local recommended the Metzeler 7RR which fits into that sport category, so won't be getting the mileage I'd like and is certainly overkill for the riding that I do.

I remember putting something that looked like the pilot street radial on a zx7r after running rennsports for a while. I'd done double the mileage I got out of the rennies but it didn't look shagged out.
I know What you mean about the 023, it just seems cold and hard in the wet. Never had one let go though. If you can fit t30s (and they're cheap enough) that's where I'd go.

Turns out the t30 doesn't come in the right size, it's a 150/70. Need a 150/60.

How was the pilot street? Seen a number of reviews saying the wet weather performance was poor. This is my only option outside of a super/hyper sport that is radial.

Never had issues in the wet with Michelin, it's been 12 years since I had the zx7r, the street should be a lot better than the tyre I had!
