How much did you lower it by? I tip toe my 650, but I'd be worried about ground clearance if I was to lower it. I got the exhaust to scrape today (Motad replacement), not sure if it sits lower than the stock one!

That will lower to by 30-35mm on its own but can of course have the preload upped if needed but the 59 plate is for Lozzy not me.

Its easy to ground a Motad on a 650, don't worry about it. Have you dropped the pre-load on yours, its very easy to do?

Yeah, I dropped the preload to the lowest setting about 2 weeks ago, prob why I only grounded it out today, as it's the second time I've ridden it since.

I'll raise the rear a little I think. Cheers

VFR -
Fixed oil cooler line. Drained the oil the was left, and no silver bits. Ditto for the filter. New oil and filter. Cleaned much oil off fairing, motor, tyre, headers, 'zorst and other sundry parts. Started her up, and it's as if nothing happened. No noises, vibration, hesitancy, gear selection issues... It just works. Got the child and her mate to wash, polish and wax her for the princely sum of an Ice-cream each.

Oil drop and change.

Both - Put in a lockable fenced off compound with lots of chains after the little bastards cut chains on thursday night.

Topped up the electrolyte in the Exup1000 battery.

Adjusted the chain on the R1 after spraying it with some lube.

Undone the filter bolt in the bottom of the crankcase on the KTM.

Had another look at the surplus wiring on the FJ1200.

Removed the K&N air filter from the XR400.

All before supper Thumbs Up Laughing

refitted the gearchange shaft to engage with the shifter drum, also replaced the piss thin 1mm washer with a slightly thicker one behind the circlip on the gearchange shaft so hopefully it doesnt deform and let the shaft disengage again.

Then proceeded to take the long way home and give it a hammering. Cool

Finished off the fitting of my Tutoro auto chain luberator. I may have made that last word up.

Took it for a spin to work, the nozzle is still there either side of my sprocket and the chain looks oiled. Win. No more sitting on my knees with a pot of gear oil and a brush ...

Programmed a new fob to the datatool alarm, quite a simple process to be fair. So if my once, only fob did break I have a spare in the house with a newly cut spare key too.

Quite happy with the chain oiler I put on, though the reservoir isn't in the best of places but there's nowhere else to put the bloody thing, the ZZR is as sleek as a racing whale.

Slowly getting it back together.

Rear shock, swingarm, drive shaft and drive shaft all refitted and no play in the movement anymore so sorted.

New rear tyre, practicing what I preach by going for the Avon Storm 3D X-M. £160 a pair with 15% off courtesy of BCF and Ebay.

https://cdn.bcf.44bytes.net/files/20180825_203738_resized.jpg

Just got to refit the wheel, secure the rear brake lines to the swingarm and change the front wheel bearings and it will be usable. Still needs the Air filter changing, the plugs doing and then I get to move onto accessories.

Not the bike but related.. Wanted to make use of new cordless grinder. Drainage slot I made last week, rhs of pic, did the job so added another in the middle.

https://s20.postimg.cc/q1mgoq6bv/IMG_20180826_190249.jpg?dl=1

Silverstone drainage channels need to be in proportion to the puddle. I was dissapoint there was no race Sad

Bike stand I made years ago was starting to rust, was not happy with the centre supports that were thin sheet, so cut out and welded a bit of angle. Painted.

VFR -
Not charging, again. Bit bullet and ordered Stator, reg/rec and a Motobatt AGM battery. We'll run new wires from Stator to battery when fitting it. Also, paddock stand so I can start stripping stuff off the parts bike.
Snagged a set of oil cooler lines, with cooler, for silly cheap. Hardly any fur on them, so I'll coat them before fitting.

125-
Removed tank, swilled shit out of it. Tank needs lining when the VFR is sorted and reliable.
New petcock had fuel outlet in the wrong direction so it fouls the frame, but it fit otherwise, so I have a starting point.
Re-fitted old petcock and new fuel lines, filter etc.
Re-sealed exhaust.

Not today, but on Friday I had my suspension set up by JHS racing in Keynsham.

I'm most probably gonna change the rear shock for something better in the near future.

It certainly tips into the corners a lot better, doesn't feel as vague or bouncy on the front, but still a bit crap at the back end.

I was given a list of all the settings they did when they had finished.

edit: from manual

I’ve had an old Honda cm 250t under wraps for about three years now and have not done anything with it.
Today I took the covers off and sprayed all the nooks and crannies with oil.
I then told it “night night” and put the covers back on Sad

Two Superdreams and all the associated junk I’ve collected for them left my garage today Thumbs Up Smile
The buyer came and collected and was as happy as a happy thing.

He said he knew someone who would be interested in the CM 250t.
So another bike may be finding a new home Thumbs Up .

As for my road legal bikes, I just looked at them and plugged the
Kawasaki into the Optimate Crying or Very sad

I've begun the process of exhaust header nut removal.
The nuts are quite rusty so a liberal coating of plusgas has been applied.
For some reason, the nut on the outer right hand side wasn't rusty so I thought I'd have a go at it.
No joy, not budging.
No matter, it's not a war I need to win today.
I'll just apply the plusgas every day and have another go next weekend.

Lubed the chain and checked the tension - OK. Checked the tyre pressures - OK. Cleaned the mirror glasses and instrument glasses. Polished the tank, side panels, mudguards and chainguard. Decided not to refit the homemade front mudguard flap as the darned thing keeps splitting.

All of the foregoing in readiness for a nice club ride-out to Elvingham Heath Classic car and bike show 2moz.

Shod the Triple and FZ6 with new boots as the new tyre changer arrived just in time for the weekend.

Ready girls..?
https://www.planetash.net/bcf/ready.jpg

First tyre on...
https://www.planetash.net/bcf/changer.jpg

There's still some life left in the front PR2, and even the rear but that has 3 repaired punctures..so not good for much. Dunlops are going straight in the bin.

What was lucky on the first one was i forgot to check the rotation until i'd swapped it, but just happened to put it on the right way. Made sure to check the next one, and wasn't until i tried putting the axle through i realised that despite double checking this time, i'd still managed to put it on the wrong way. Much gnashing of teeth and self harm.

Love the tyre changer. Only £72 off of the ebay. Nice not having to bother the neighbour for a lift to Phillips anymore. Did end up scratching the rims a bit, as they weren't tight enough at first and spun in the changer. Might find some matching nail varnish to tidy them up, but it doesn't show too much, so no biggie.

Finally, all changed...
https://www.planetash.net/bcf/beforeafterfront.jpghttps://www.planetash.net/bcf/beforeafterrear.jpg

Out with the old...
https://www.planetash.net/bcf/old.jpg

Surprised at how heavy the front feels on the Triple with the R5s. Seems to have lost some of it's legendary flickablility. Will experiment with tyre pressures to fine tune, but they still seem pretty solid. Can't really say for sure till i've got a few miles on them though.

Also changed pads front and rear...
https://www.planetash.net/bcf/frontpads.jpg
https://www.planetash.net/bcf/rearpads.jpg

Fucking hate doing brakes. Clean all the crap off, carefully apply grease, then spend 20 minutes getting grease everywhere trying to get the damn things in, dropping them, wiping them off, reapplying more grease. Doh!

Used that red rubber grease (as BCF recommends) and find it slightly easier to use than copper grease as it seems to be a bit stickier.

Anyway, all done...
https://www.planetash.net/bcf/frontfin.jpg
https://www.planetash.net/bcf/rearfin.jpg

And lastly, fitted new adjustable brake and clutch levers. Really preferred the PSR ones, but not paying for postage from the US. These seem well made though, and are nicer to use than the standards.
https://www.planetash.net/bcf/clutchlever.jpg
https://www.planetash.net/bcf/brakelever.jpg

Took it out for a little test. Luckily it was little, as i just managed to save the caliper bolts on one side that i'd forgotten to tighten Embarassed Also forgot to tighten the front axle locking bolts. Now i only have one... Sad

Too late to go for another test now, so hopefully i won't discover any more untightened things on the way to work tomorrow... Praying

replaced the 25+ year old clutch assembly on the 900r with a newer zzr1100 unit after the clutch almost left me stranded at work. Works nicely now, especially with the braided clutch line.

tried fitting zzr1100 switch gear, only to find the previous owner of this bike had cut writes at various plugs and joined them again with spade connectors Evil or Very Mad

looked for a new unmolestered loom.

Ok, day three. Something has budged slightly but it was the stud instead of the nut.
Not a bad thing I suppose, I kind of planned to replace the studs anyway if need be.

I don't think the plusgas is touching the rusty nuts.
