Looking to getting my first ‘big’ bike and have seen a 2011 Honda CBR600F ABS, it has done 31k with Full Honda Service history. It is under £3k. I guess the Honda engines are built to last, but with bikes which have this sort of mileage what other costs would I have to factor in for the future maintenance. Thanks

The CBR based 600 motor's, and VFR's, will do seriously mental mileages. Has it been looked after? FSH is a good indication it has, but don't be blinded by it, check it over carefully as you would any bike. Dealers can, and do, pull dodgy shit. (Just in case this is Bill Smiths Honda in Chester, expect lots of dodgy shit as soon as they have your money).

I factor in an oil and filter change immediately, that way I know it's been done. Obviously, it will be more expensive on consumables than a 125. More oil, bigger filters, bigger rubber, more brake pads... You get the idea.

And new(ish) tyres. If not, knock off £200 for new rubber.

Thanks for the replies. It looks clean and tidy a couple of owners and full Honda Service history. Tyres are okay but will probably have to change them fairly soon.

Have you considered the older CBR600f4i?

They don't satisfy Euro 3 though but:

They have a stiffer frame.
They have better suspension.
They are more powerful.

I have, very nice bikes as well. There are some available at the moment so might well have a look at one.

agreed, I had the choice between the newer CBR600f and the old f-sport, the old F-sport imo looks much nicer (I am not a fan of cyclops lights) and is a bigger and more powerful bike, i got an 02 fsport

Had a look at a f4i, 30k miles FSH and similar price to the 2011 cbr, although this was with a dealer. Both look good bikes and I think either would do the job well. I also had a quick look at a cbr400 in vgc, tiny in comparison and sounded wonderful & being vertically challenged fitted very well🤪
