Actually, it's meant to be an Osprey apparently. I mean, really?!

The talens and beak say Osprey, everything else says Pigeon.

I is confused and so is my mate

On a day like yesterday, hill walking here competes strongly with riding my bike. But if you can get both in one day... Very Happy

On my way to the garage today, I have noticed one of the streets was closed and people were gathering around. When I got closer, I found this.

*20 years ago, there was a illegal bike racing community racing on that very road always at midnight. This was the very first time they did it officially with the support of the local council. 16 riders only + some stunt riding and other stuff. The winner of this event was a lad on a stock Bandit 1250, beating KTM RC8, R1, ZX10R, and so on.

EDIT: The reasoning behind organising today's event is quite simple and very Czech indeed. The mayor heard about the illegal racing in a pub, where he met one of the riders who told him all about it. The mayor, a motorcyclist himself, then decided to hold the event.

The dragster bike was there just for show and is a modified VTR1000 SP01/02, supercharged.

Local Enfield group run to Hunstanton for fishanchipses. 200 mile round trip, 8 Himalayans, 1 Continental GT, 2 Bullets, 2 BMWs, 1 Harley, 1 Ducati and 1 Aprilia. Caught decent enough weather, didn't lose anyone, no one fell off, no one broke anything. Success Smile

Several years ago (even long before I was even born), we used to have all sorts of motorsport events on public roads in the city. Looking at old photos it seems surreal that once there were car/motorcycle races on public roads here.

Then the organisers either lost funding/sponsors, or the local councils lost their interest. That's pretty much all there's to it. If you have the money (funding) and the councils say alright, you may hold a race meeting. Well, there are several safety regulations and all that as well, of course.

Nowadays, we got back the motorcycle roadracing (just like what you've got in the UK = TT, Ulster GP, North West 200...), events are being held all over the country and got popular again.

But again, it's all about the councils.

Even at 1530 hours this afternoon in Brighton there were quite a few people watching the stunt show along Madeira Drive

https://i666.photobucket.com/albums/vv23/WiNot_Rhencullen/Snaps/20180909_152659_zpso3y59adz.jpg~original

Luckily we were allowed to park along the top on the pavement, otherwise there would not have been sufficient space along Madeira Drive unless you parked up miles away from anything going on

Visited the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden, Bedfordshire yesterday and, having seen the wonderful planes, motorbikes, bicycles, cars, horse-carriages, steam engines and more, discovered that the National Chopper Club Bedfordshire branch were having a show at the other end of the field. No photos but there were some lovely bikes there, a nice atmosphere and a real old skool feel. A good day.

Well, you can only let work get in the way for so long !! So, out to play in Shropshire today, essentially going to Ellesmere and return, not by the most direct route Smile..

The pictures.. Codsall Station pub, cracking pub, then 1 for teh Dallas fans, the bike @ Southfork !! St Mary's church in Astley, Moreton Corbet Castle by Shawbury, a couple at the mere in Ellesmere, and, finally, the Sleap branch of the Mash fanclub 🤣 Oh, and then the route.. Not too bad, a nice 133 mile potter about

Last evening, went from Guildford down to New Forest, up to Stockbridge and back. 150 miles in 3 hours.

Soooo, the pics..... ehh, failed, too busy trying to see through the sun, or the 80mins of dark as realised headlight is aiming at the floor and needs adjustment.

Guildford to Sevenoaks and back (140 miles via b-roads on Striple).

Chartwell - Once home to Winston Churchill. A nice place, pretty gardens. Most modern of the various places I've visited over the last few years. Felt a bit odd, like it was my Grandads place.....albeit a bit bigger.

Then something a bit older. Knole. Medieval pad, once home to Archbishop something.

Went for a long walk around the deer park. Made a new friend.

Got really lucky with traffic, found some mega b-roads.
B2126. A264 was surprisingly clear. B2028 from Newchapel to Marsh Green was good fun.

The roads round there are quite good fun but you do have to time them right; traffic on the weekend can be stupid and takes out a whole load of enjoyment Sad Glad you had a good run at it though!

A busy mostly bike related weekend for me, trying to get average miles up before the 'season' comes to a close (I do ride in winter but since it's been such a nice summer and we're having a bit of a sunny resurgence...).

On Saturday I took the missus on the back of the Enfield over to Stow Maries WW1 aerodrome and, whereas before I've only ever stopped for breakfast, this was the first time I've had the time to have the complete tour around the place. Got there at 10:30 ish and didn't end up leaving until gone 2 - quite surprised at that actually.

It was a really good tour and whilst some of the planes they have are for 'filming' purposes some are more original and, up close, make you think long and hard about the glamorous appeal of being a fighter pilot in times when aviation was but a teenager and shooting a machine gun at your own propeller at 18,000 feet would have on today's youth Shocked

The airfield is still in use today for private planes too. Quite a nice selection of bathtubs with wings and older, cooler things.

And then on Sunday I was due to go over to Kent on the KTM to watch the Sidcup MCC motocross event. Unfortunately, the KTM didn't want to start and with missus on the back I didn't want to do the M25 with a pillion on the Enfield, so I binned it off for the car instead. It's in here because it is at least bike related though Laughing

Not today but early on Sunday morning I met up with a friend and rode from the Oakdene cafe down to the Fishponds cafe at Hawkhurst via the fun twisty bits Thumbs Up Cool
The food is better than at the Oakdene so was worth the effort to get out early before people started to clog up the roads.
We both had family commitments in the afternoon so were heading home by 11.15am and the afternoon turned out much hotter and sunnier than expected

Blue sky, warm, summer hols for the masses over. Time for a day off.

192 miles of hoonary on my Striple.

Down to Romsey and Mottisfont. House was a bit basic downstairs. Upstairs was an exhibition of local(ish) artists. Some amazing paintings.
Outside was good. Walled gardens very good....albeit the wrong time of year, definitely going back when all the roses are out.

https://i.imgur.com/MSgT5FD.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/A6cOVRE.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/A3oTLhb.jpg

Then off to the New Forest and Lepe. Been visiting for 5 years, but first time this year. Gone is the cafe hut and been replaced with something altogether more substantial. Bikes still park for free.

https://i.imgur.com/tNofAsj.jpg

Sat under my favourite tree overlooking the sea (in my will to be scattered here......although on the A272 is seeming more appropriate).

https://i.imgur.com/s3wQ9WI.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/1wsW1KR.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/i2JEz44.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/9j4wt8k.jpg

Found someone had left their handbag in the seating area outside the cafe, so left it with reception.

Back home via A272. Did not hang around. Mega day.

Not today, but yesterday .. Had a decent run about though.. Went to meet a mate in Cardiff, went down through Hereford and so on, and on the way back, decided to chose between the Cotswolds or the Malverns, chose the Malverns. Route works out at 281miles according to Google Maps, although I probably did a bit more than that, as, for a kick off, I did a full circuit of St Athan airfield.. Anyhow as I do, here are some photos from the ride out, including 1 showing the route..

Not today but this week I've been to Chiswick once, and White City twice. Hard work from Basingstoke. More fun than the train, and cheaper but a lot more exhausting.
