|
|
I apologise for living under a rock for a while and being out of touch.
Shopping online and looking at the new bikes on sale it's quite apparent that the 600cc sports bikes have gone?
The r6 appears to be the only one I can see still being churned out.
Have I missed something?
Are the 1000cc bikes soon to be threatened too with the increase in smaller and I assume better emission bikes? ____________________ Current : MSX 125 Past : CBR 900RR Monkeybike : c50 LAC : ZXR750 H2 : FZR600 : ZX7R P3 : YW100 : TRX850: Trophy 900 T309 : GSXR 600 L0: Monkeybike : XJ6S Whosthedaddy |

So bike are in effect going the same way as cars 'Adventure - SUV analogy' High ride height and (perhaps) better suspension travel whether you need it or not. What's the betting JLR will develop an 'adventure' bike or simply buy Triumph ? ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750

I feel old, broken, heavy and inflexible enough to want an upright naked and I'm just into my 30s.
A few years ago a WSB chief said they'd be open to replacing Super-sports with a naked class, WSB/BSB now have a commuter twins in a plastic frock category so they are seemingly open to changing the race classes to accommodate what manufacturers are actually selling.
I'd watch any class of competitive motorcycle track racing tbh so long as the speeds are kept high.
A cruiser fag class could be as enthralling as this:

I want to see 600cc naked* cruiser-fag electric scooter racing. Preferably 24hr endurance class.

I'd be up for watching all that in the name of variety. It'd be interesting to see a geeky electric twist and go race series, but taken very seriously with Mugen level bikes, and all the nerdy stuff obsessed over like super rare earth magnet motors and semi conductor controllers and re-gen systems.
A class of Honda shadows or similar racing would be cool, just to see all the sparks flying and bits of bike falling off at every corner. There's some powerful cruisers, and some of the big American 2litre aftermarket engines can make 160bhp ish.
Being vaguely sensible I think Marjay said it first about there's likely to be a class or a couple of classes of either these super nakeds like the KTM 990/1290 etc and or things like modified XTZ 1200's or Multistrada's etc.
It'd be a bit of a throwback and full return circle to the Spencer CB900's and Eddie Lawson Z1000's etc, which would be quite cool to watch too.
And yeah I agree that new big bikes are going very SUV like, in being tall, big and roomy, but with big power engines.
Maybe BTTC will turn into an SUV race series soon with Super tuned Quashqi's, Cayenne's, Kadjar's, CHR's and Jag F-paces. |

I'm trying to understand this and struggling. Right now I'm in the ' a drop of water is an oasis to a thirsty man ' category, so right now khaki and red seem pretty appealing.. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750
