Driving along on a major duel carriageway at about 80mph lost all power engine died.

Waited about 2 mins then it started up fine
Got up to 70mph after about 30 secs engine died.
Had to wait about 2 mins again and it started back up.
This time I stuck to 60mph no problems.

Never had this issue before. Right before it occurred I tired switching from 4th to 5th and the gear selector felt like it got caught between the gears and spazzed out a it but I cant see how it's relates..

Bike was pretty much parked up for two days apart from a short trip to the town and I brimmed it up before hand. Is it possible a breather hose is blocked?
Any tips? Ps I'm not mechanically minded.

Had a new exhaust a few months ago along with service and air filter.

Edit: I also haven't touched the fuel tap switch since I owned the thing I know some people recommend putting it in the off position but I've never had a issue with it so I don't touch it

About 11:30 I also didn't let the bike warm up or use the choke as I've never needed it before. It also wasn't that cold.

Sounds like fuel flow shortage at the top end and then filling the carbs when stopped.

Your tank has to breath to let fuel out,
Your fuel tap sounds like a vacuum operated one which may not be fully working or the tank tap filter is partly clogged.
If you move the tap to the PRI position which does not need the vacuum to open it which i think you have you may let crap out of the tap into the carbs.
You may also have carb inlet filters as well NOT SURE.
If it was mine i would remove the fuel pipe and try the PRI position if it`s possible.

I think its sorted.
The fuel tap vaccum hose was partially perished and had a slit in it. Really hard to see but when I wiggled it about a bit it practically fell apart.
Thankfully the hose is quite long so I just shortened it and slot it back on and it fired up first time.

Fingers crossed its all fixed. Mr. Green
I know I need to look into relacing all the rad and fuel lines as they all look OEM might do that when my car is fully running.

I have a 20 year old car and 20 year old bike so that's fun!
