I'd rather Tommi Mak ruined my garden wall than some old codger tbh
But yes I'm certain the race series will have insurance in place to repair anything their competitors have fucked up. |

The big ones are, not so sure about the club level events and insurance is a relatively recent thing.
When I was racing regularly (80s/early 90s) spectator tickets still had a disclaimer on the back, along the lines of 'motorsport is dangerous, attend at your own risk' and that was good enough - if you got your head knocked off by an errant wheel, that was it, no liability insurance or compo court case, the family just shrugged their shoulders and said things to the effect of "he died doing what he loved".
In today's more litigious society, there's probably a requirement for some sort of public liability policy, but I doubt it's completely universal.
As for the teams/drivers, I'm not sure any form of insurance exists, that's what rich fathers and sponsors are for.
A testing accident soaked up all my money and ended my career and when Formula 4 driver Billy Monger lost his legs a couple of years ago, a crowdfunding page was set up to cater for his needs. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

The licencing association the event runs under will have insurance.
For motorcycles in the UK, the ACU has a policy for all members at an ACU licenced event, no matter who the event organiser or club is.
https://www.acu.org.uk/ridersmembers/members-insurance.aspx
Quote: | ACU Members Insurance
Please find below details of the insurance cover which the Auto Cycle Union have arranged to protect its members whilst taking part in permitted events. The policies cover our Licence Holders, Promoters, Event Organisers, Clubs, Affiliated Coaches and Officials.
The cover is operative where the Auto Cycle Union has issued a permit or an exemption of permit.
The Public Liability cover also includes the social activities of all affiliated clubs (further details on this cover are provided under the Club section)
For Motorsport activity which you participate in which is not permitted by the Auto Cycle Union, we recommend that you check with the organisers what cover is in place to protect you as a participant if you are injured, or if you cause damage to third party property – or cause injury to a third party.
Cover provided by the Auto Cycle Union for their permitted events includes:

All msa sanctioned events have insurance cover, when I used to do stage rallies the single venue type events were around £70 a car insurance built into the entry fee, bigger forestry events required an extra cover for driving on the road between stages too which was £100ish per event, I demolished a brick building in 2010 with my rally car, never heard any more of it as the event insurance just covered it no claim forms to fill out etc. ____________________ Hyosung cruise 125(passed test on, sold) Kawasaki el 252 (better than expected but sold on) Kawasaki GPZ500S first "big"bike.(sold) ZZR600 E5..Z750 2007,ER5, currently on a 2008 Enfield bullet electra x and loving it..
