Hi

If I've redone by CBT, when it comes to insurance and it asks the date I got my "provisional", do I put the original date 2 years ago or the recent date? Sorry if this is a silly question

You said it

It is the date you got your provisional licence, what ever date that was, presumably over 2 years ago if that is when you applied for and received your provisional licence

Your CBT might have expired since getting your Provisional, but your Provisional license should not have expired (unless it has been revoked for any reason)

As above it's when you got your provisional nothing to do with the CBT.

It asks "Motorcycle Licence Type"
The options are - Full UK, International, Provisional, EU

I have a full UK DRIVING license but only a CBT to ride motorbike. What would be the correct option and for which date do I use (beginning of first CBT, beginning of renewal or beginning of Driving license)?

Thanks

Is your entitlement for a motorcycle full or provisional?

Fuckwit...

My entitlement to ride a motorbike is via a "Certificate of Completion of an Approved Training Course for Motor Bicycles (Category A) and Mopeds (Category P/AM)"

I didn't "apply" for a specific provisional or full motorbike license, which is why I'm a little confused

No. That's a cbt certificate. Your entitlement is in the back of the plastic card.

https://www.gov.uk/motorcycle-cbt/how-training-works

"When you complete the course

You’ll get a ‘certificate of completion’ (sometimes called a ‘DL196’) when you successfully complete the course. You can then ride a moped or motorcycle up to 125cc and with a power output of up to 11kW on the road with L plates (L or D plates in Wales). You must pass your theory test and full moped or motorcycle test within 2 years otherwise you’ll need to complete CBT again or stop riding."

Right, you're clearly too hard of thinking for someone with my massive intellect. Can I refer you to this thread?

it was when you got your provisional licence not when you got your cbt

so when ever your licence was sent through the post with the motorcycle category added Shocked

Neither.

The question is about your provisional licence, not about the CBT. The date you got your provisional motorcycle licence is very probably the same date you got your provisional car licence.

try telephoning your insurance compny and talk to an (almost) human, who probably knows less about UK road law than you do, but can still give a better answer without frying our minds arguing idiocy at your level....

Better still... go get a fell 'motorcycle' licence, you've already had two years pissing about on L's NOT getting one, if you cant do it by now, give up.

Don't go confusing him, he doesn't understand the difference between a provisional license entitlement and a cbt certificate....

If that is indeed the case then you don't hold a provisional entitlement to ride and therefore a CBT is irrelevant.

Mine says nothing about a few categories - but they're listed online. If online says nothing about provisional bike, then he's fucked.

I was first confused on the difference between CBT and provisional entitlement as I'm relatively new to this that's all - you all learn from somewhere lol it's a shame some people on here forget that.

But thanks man that was helpful. My license has nothing at all written on the back about riding a bike which was the point I was actually tried to get across. So I've now checked my details online and have seen the relevant provisional category so cheers for that Thumbs Up

Bit funny how some others assumed that it was just written on the back and didn't hesitate to insult but such is life eh

Relatively, compared to many others here. Plus first time renewing, I just plonked my details in 2 years ago and didn't delve into it, yes my mistake I know.

I've learnt now thanks to a few helpful responses so I appreciate that

Err.... you have learned 'now'... two years after CBT where it should have been explained to you?

What else, on the 'first lesson' of CBT didn't you pick up on as something you should have learned, or have forgotten?

Back to top, CBT isn't a licence its just the first lesson, and you dont seem to recall or have ascimilated even that, from two years ago....

So will you do so if you do another? And will you waste another two years pigging about on L's 'NOT' knowing all you should, NOT getting a propper motorbike licence?

L's is for Learners, not test dodgers, and admission here is that you haven't even learned stuff you aught to have been taught on that first lesson...

So is another CBT and however long 'practicing' whatever else you fail to learn 2nd time round doing you or any other road user much of a favor?

GO GET A FULL LICENCE!!!!

Heck, there are no excuses, if you are too young/too poor to do an A2 or A licence course, doing A1 self-booked, is as 'cheap' as the repeat CBT you now have to do to keep pigging about pretending to be a learner, for another couple of years, you haven't even saved money, you have just wasted time.
