The best I can offer is a three day trip away in Wales via West London.
I plan to do the whole length of the A40 later this month, I hope, possibly, maybe, I think.

If the mini trip goes ahead, I’ll make a point of posting a few pics and a little write up.

I have the bike, kit, money , all I need to do now is put the effort in to actually do it.

Well that’s not happening Evil or Very Mad .... that woman who lives in my house, has stuck a spanner in the works!
She announced to me that she’s away when I plan to go Rolling Eyes , I’m now staying home to look after the animals.

Wasn't really a plan. Met the Mrs over there who was with a couple of friends and just followed them around to various towns and landmarks. Was my first time riding on the continent and was solo. I'll get a small diary up once I've got over my backlog of work.

I'll be back off to South America next year but I still have not managed a write up from the last trip. Unfortunately Instagram/Facebook have become to way to share these trips.

A few photos from my recent (last month) mini tour of the EU, my first ever as well on a bike, as not owned one for years.

Reason I got back into biking, my son bought one (his 3rd) and wanted us to do a EU tour.

Once I got my bike and was ready (about a month or so later) he got bloody deployed, so went solo as when it comes to motorbikes, I'm billy no mates, I even own a cardo rider, solo, I'm so billy no mates.

So with no real plan I went to France, then on to Switzerland, then Italy, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, back into France to Dunkirk, for ferry back to blighty.

I crossed the Alps 3 n half times 1/2 times was because I wanted to see the San Bernardino Pass.

Camped the entire trip, was going to do a mix, but really enjoyed the camping.

Thinking of trying to go to Spain this month, maybe within a week or so, want to do the Pyrenees. ride to somewhere like https://www.isabena.eu/en/ and use that as a base camp.

Ahh well enough prattle on to the photos.

I just don't take any photos when I'm off on the motorbike. Blogs without photos are boring shit.

I rode the crap out of a rental 500 bullet in Portugal earlier this year on National route 2 along with some ligh green-laning.

I also did the Dragon Rally with a mate on a B40.

@Nem: Hello and welcome!
That sounds and looks like an excellent tour. And a very good bike to do it on too, nice choice. And a brilliant way to get back into biking!
The relative pros and cons of solo vs. accompanied touring tend to balance out in my experience Smile

@Stinkwheel: Yes, much better to see good pics than have too much text to read. I hope you won't regret not recording your travels in photos as much as I do for most of my earlier biking years though, but I guess it doesn't bother you so much. Photography has become an inseparable part of my biking travels, although only at 'hobbyist' level.

I had a 17 day tour of California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona, but in a Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack as bike hire was too expensive Embarassed

Still, it was fun as the roads were empty and it had a 6.4 litre V8 engine Twisted Evil

Definitely touring on the bike next year though as I’ve already booked the ferry to Spain and the return from St Malo Thumbs Up

Taking a photo of an object/experience has been shown to impair your memory of it.

Well, maybe, but I bet even the people who carried out that study take holiday snaps Wink Laughing

Tell you what though, I have an idea for an experiment. You and I both go to a museum and study the same, say, 5 objects. Let's say we're allowed 5mins to look at each. But, I get to take photos of them too.
2 years later, we'll take a test on what we saw, but I get to look at my photos as well as using my memory. Whoever does best on the test wins. Sound fair?

Not that it would make any sense in the context of taking photos of the places one goes on tour Confused

By Spring/Summer, I think I'll have the viffer to a point I'm happy to tour on her knowing she'll not let anything go through neglect of the previous owner. We'll start with wildcamping through Haggisland
