This is my first ever post here
I've recently been on a bit of a mission to find the perfect Lightweight Adventure bike. Turns out the little WR250R makes for a pretty awesome touring bike.
Has anyone else ridden long distance on one of these? I know they are pretty hard to find in the UK!
Anyway, if interested, I put together a little video of the 1000 mile trip I just took on her. You can check it out here

It's an interesting choice of bike, if not a bit unusual.
Got anything planned for another trip? |

I know it's not an entirely fair comparison and the bikes are very rare (thanks partly to an air accident that killed the top people in the company ), but... as a comparison...
The highland 950 outback will have come in maybe 15 kg lighter than the Himalayan, but with an engine that makes just under 4x the power from a 950cc v twin.
Even the horribly overweight XTZ660 comes in at a similar weight to the Himalayan, but again with a good bit bigger engine. |

Granted the himalayan is a lower horse power bike but I think you have to see it in perspective of the market its aimed at. Whilst we assume the west is the only market that counts and im sure RE are happy to make sales here the big market is the expanding young middle class in developing economies. Like the guy in this review https://youtu.be/3PpfbZIUhcY
My bet is RE will just bring out a higher HP model for the west but it will just be their existing 650 lump. |
