You keep doing the job you do. They have to keep paying you for it. Terms, conditions, benefits and renumeration carry accross.
In the short term, that is it.
If they want you to do a different job, that change to your terms and conditions is open to negotiation between you and them (that's your reply: "You want me to start work an hour earlier? That's certainly open to negotiation.").
If they no longer want/need you to do your job, they can make your job redundant (but they can't then put someone else in to do your job, that would be wrongful dismissal).
If you do not want to work for them, you are generally free to leave unencumbered.
I've been through it twice now. In most cases, they need you more than you need them because they just bought a company and don't know how it works.
My current new boss of 3 months announced she wanted us to work on call on saturday mornings, meaning I would have work of some sort every other saturday rather than every 4th. I told her straight-up no. I don't want to, she can't make me and she knows it.
I'm not saying it wont be a total pain in the arse. People who aquire other companies seem to be unable to resist immediately fucking with every established system for no reason other than because it's not how they would have done it. They cause chaos, some staff can't cope and leave. Usually the staff who were pivotal in the workings of those systems. This is when you jump in and get a promotion or demand more money.
As of the end of this month, I'm the only one of the 4 "front of house" staff left who were working here in june. I'm the only one who knows the customers and their working practices. I requested a meeting with my area manager and straight-up said I was finding things extremely stressful, that I was considering leaving and explained how totally screwed they would be if I did. Then asked for a pay rise. As far as I'm concerned, they coughed up enough for me to give them another 6 months to see if it settles down.
I could be wrong and maybe they'll sit and see how the company works for the first while (presumably they didn't just buy a company that is making a loss and crap at what it does). THEN look at how they could improve things. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |

The above it totally correct, I went through this a few years ago, if your hours change it's a great place to leverage some extra pay. If you have any other questions, it's worth speaking to ACAS
